CHAPTER III

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents the methods to be used in the study. It also describes the subject of

the study, the instrument used, the data gathering procedure and the statistical treatment of the

data.

Research Method

The study utilized the Quantitative Research. Quantitative Research is used to quantify

the problem by way of generating numerical data or data that can be transformed into usable

statistics. It is used to quantify attitudes, opinions, behaviors, and other defined variables – and

generalize results from a larger sample population. On the other hand, Correlation research was

used in the study where it determines whether and to what degree a relationship exists between

two or more quantifiable variables.

Respondents of the Study

The respondents of the study were the employee’s of Barangay Learning Hub – Ibayo,

Almark, and Bataan National High School. The participants were asked some questions that are

related to their Self-esteem. Teachers and employees in that company was big contribution in

obtaining efficient information about our topic the skills in relation to Self-esteem.
In line with this, the researchers used non- probability sampling to investigate whether workers

have high or low self-esteem. We use the availability sampling type, which is said to be time-

effective. It’s also easy to use since the members who are conveniently available to participate in

study especially when you have a very small population to work with. This sampling method is a

tool for collecting data easily without complications. Making people an inspiration, an easy

reliable method exist the non probability sampling in type of availability sampling. In summary,

we, the researchers investigate the people's self esteem that is conducted in availability sampling

with a capable of producing desired results without wasting materials, time, or energy which will

produce a suitable result.

Research Instruments

The researchers used questionnaire in data gathering. Questionnaire is one of the research

instruments that contain a series of questions formulated for an individual and independent

answering by several respondents for obtaining statistical information. The researchers used

Likert Scale. Likert Scale is a psychometric scale commonly involved in research that employs

questionnaire. It is the most widely use approach to scaling responses in survey research, such

that the term (or more accurately the likert type scale) is often used interchangeably with rating

scales.

In Likert scale, the researchers provide some questions that will help to rate their self-

esteem to the following questions. The coverage of the questionnaire is the skills in relation to

self-esteem.
Validation of Instruments

In order to test the validity of the questionnaire which used for this study, the

researchers seek for the approval of the research project teacher. The researchers revised some

corrections and grammar in the questionnaire. Aside from that, the researchers limited the

questions in the questionnaire to make it more specific. The researchers listed some questions

about their profile and personal information, their confident about their abilities and in generally

speaking we aim to know their self-esteem.

Statistical Treatment of Data

The data obtained were encoded and statistically processed with the used of statistical

software called IBMSPSS version 20. Statistical tests such as mean, standard deviation and T test

were employed to find answers to the specific questions raised in the statement of the problem in

Chapter I of the Study.

Frequency account and percentage were used to describe the respondents profile in terms

of name, sex, age, etc...
