Oracle SolarisTM 11.

3 Support Repository Image

1. Overview

For some deployments, direct access to the repository at

https://pkg.oracle.com/solaris/support is not possible, or provides
insufficient performance.

The ISO image associated with this README is to be used in conjunction

with an existing local copy of the Oracle Solaris support repository.

This image is incremental. It contains only the latest revision of IPS

packages that have been added or changed since the initial release of
Oracle Solaris 11.3.

Standalone use may result in failure due to unresolved dependencies.

The repository either can be used directly as an additional source of

packages for a system or the packages can be added to an existing
repository. Details are below.

2. Usage

This repository copy requires implementation on a system with a minimum OS

level of Oracle Solaris 11.3.

This image is provided as a single ISO file.

Please note that the example commands listed in this document should be
executed with privileges either as root or by using sudo(1M) or pfexec(1).

It is necessary to have a valid solaris publisher set before performing

an update. Instructions for creating an Oracle Solaris 11.3 package
repository can be found at:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E53394_01/html/E54747/index.html

2.1 How to Update Your Local System

The basic steps to use the SRU ISO for updating your local system
are as follows. Note that "srunum" represents the number of this SRU
(for example, sru 11), "bldnum" represents the SRU build (for example,
build 2) and "respinnum" represents the respin number (0 if none):

1. Mount the ISO image as a filesystem.

$ mount -F hsfs <full_path_to>/sol-11_3_srunum_bldnum_respinnum-incr-

repo.iso /mnt

2. Add an additional origin to the existing solaris publisher.

$ pkg set-publisher -g file:///mnt solaris

3. Perform the update of the packages.

$ pkg update

2.2 How to Update an Oracle Solaris 11.3 Package Repository

This option is used to populate an existing Oracle Solaris 11.3 package

repository with the contents of the SRU media.

1. Mount the ISO image as a filesystem.

$ mount -F hsfs <full_path_to>/sol-11_3_srunum_bldnum_respinnum-incr-

repo.iso /mnt

2. Import the SRU packages to your existing Oracle Solaris 11.3 repository.

$ rsync -aP /mnt/ <full_path_to_existing_s11_3_repo>

3. Rebuild the search indexes for the repository.

$ pkgrepo rebuild -s <full_path_to_existing_s11_3_repo>

4. If the repository is managed by pkgserv, restart the appropriate

service.

$ svcadm restart svc:/application/pkg/server:<your_repo_instance>
