Utilizing Book and Batch Functionality in Reporting

Hopefully this new tip will be helpful to you and your organization.

Have you ever wish of wanting to group a set of Hyperion FR reports and, merging them into
one book to mimic an operational book. Well, you can leverage the book functionality within
Hyperion workspace. Even though FR reports are being used, the content to create the book sits
within workspace.

An FR book can include an FR report,


Third party documents (MS Office files),
PDF documents,
Text documents,

To create a book:
Launch EPM Workspace.
Select File, then New, and then Document.
Step 1. Select a Task wizard is displayed in the Content area.
Select Collect reports into a book and click Next.
In Step 2: Select Files, select reports and other artifacts from folders, and then click Right facing
arrow icon.
Press the Shift key to select multiple consecutive reports. Press the Ctrl key for multiple non-
consecutive reports.
Optional: Add or change members selections for the book POV:
In the Name column, double-click the dimension to display Member Selection.
Select the members.
Click OK.
Optional: Copying report member selections from one report to another in the Book Editor:

Note:
Member selections are copied only between reports having the same dimensions on the User
Point of View.
Highlight the report containing the members to copy.
Select Edit, then Copy Member Selection to, then select a report.
To save the book with a file name and description, elect File, and then Save.
Done.
