Whom It May Concern,

I have had the pleasure of working with Alida Manoian since August 23, 2016. She was
my student teacher at John F. Kennedy Elementary School in Laval. Her field experience
consisted of teaching ELA, Math, and ERC in a grade 3 homeroom classroom and ELA in a grade
4 classroom. I nominate her for the Phyllis Shapiro award as she has consistently proven to be
conscientious, responsible, reliable, caring, dedicated, and resourceful. Ms. Manoian is a
talented student teacher who has excelled in her teaching skills during her third-year field
experience. She actively involved herself in the life of our classroom and our school community.

She has done exemplary work in lesson plan design and execution. She successfully
employed engaging activities as well as introduced daily PowerPoint presentations that were
integral to her teaching as well as student learning. Our school is on with diverse learning
needs, and Ms. Manoian has demonstrated the ability to plan appropriate instruction that
supported student progress. She was involved in the implementation of Individualized
Education Plans, differentiating instruction to meet the needs of all students.

Ms. Manoian developed and excellent repertoire of classroom management strategies

ensuring that students were organized, attentive and on task. She was able to meet her lesson
plan objectives using her many effective classroom management strategies. Transitions ran
smoothly during her multifaceted lesson plans from whole class instruction to hands-on
teamwork.

She is adept at using computer technology to produce her own work and is an excellent
guide in helping students as well as staff members to excel in their computer skills. She was
asked by the school principal to help students in cycle 3 who received “Chromebooks” as
assistive technology. She encouraged both the students and the teacher to become more
familiar with their devices by guiding them during their classroom lessons.

She also introduced them to an exciting extra-curricular activity. She invited these
students to participate in her “Voyage Around the World” activity once a week for half an hour
during lunch. Students had the opportunity to research a particular country using their devices.
They were then involved in celebrating their findings by having a feast with foods from that
culture prepared by Ms. Manoian. Pretend passports were even prepared for students to fell as
though they had actually been there as tourists.

During her field experience, Ms. Manoian participate in two school committees. She was
part of the Governing Board and Teaching Council. She gave up her evenings once a month to
learn about how decisions are made about our school within our Governing Board. She also
participated in after school Teacher Council meetings further developing her knowledge about
how teachers come together to make important decision concerning a positive life for our
students.
To end her third field experience, Ms. Manoian and myself worked on a classroom
project of song and dance. Our objective was to motivate students to open their minds to the
important of learning through song and moving at the same time.

Ms. Manoian has completed an excellent field experience. She has been a wonderful
addition to our classroom and school community. She has the knowledge, work ethic, and skills
to become an excellent teacher.

Respectfully submitted,

Cooperating teacher
