Description of Program
The East Metro Atlanta School System is requesting a grant to help fund the professional
development for teachers in order to learn to use the software program, Safari Montage. Each
classroom is equipped with a camera system and an audio enhancement system. The cameras and
recordings are controlled with Safari Montage. The program allows repositioning of the cameras,
recording of classes, ability to edit and share recordings, and can be used to protect both the
students and the teachers.
This program also has pre-loaded channels and videos that can be used in the classroom. Some
videos come with quizzes. These are tools the teachers can use in their classroom if they know
how to access it. We are requesting a grant amount of $2,400 in order to complete this training
for up to 45 participants.
Statement of Need
Currently, when polled, 42 of 107 teachers responded that they feel comfortable with Safari
Montage. 27 responded that they know how to record, but not share. 18 say they are
uncomfortable with all aspects of Safari Montage, and 20 did not respond. This means that at the
least, 45 teachers need more training on the software.

go to. The training will take place in a staff development designated classroom space that has
room for 25 participants. A stipend of $50 dollars will be offered for participants, up to 45
participants. The instructor will work four hours at a rate of $35 dollars per hour, equalling a
payment of $140 dollars. Participants will receive a ten page packet that includes screen shot
instructions of the goals we wish the teachers to master. Participants must bring their county-
issued laptop to the training. There are outlets for charging and wifi in the staff development
classroom.

class participants.
Evaluation of Success:
We will poll the teachers following the training. We hope to have teacher responses to increase
to no less than 85 of the 107 responding that they are comfortable with all aspects of the Safari
Montage program.
Following the poll, administrators will advise department heads to have their department
members each show a video of their classroom being recorded to show that they have learned
how to use the program, Safari Montage, to improve their teaching and their students’ success
rates. Department heads will report back to administration about the successes or failures as well
as relay any feedback the teachers offer up during the process. This should take place within one
month of the initial training.
