The colour coded number in the floor plan above indicates the exact
location of our stall. Our exact stall number is 10.

2.0 ACHIEVEMENT OF OBJECTIVE

Xpression Company has successfully accomplished all of the objectives set prior
to EXPO APK session 2014/2015. The objectives of our company are as shown
below:

(a) To ensure the company is profitable.

(b) To show our customers how to make a Perler Beads key chain and let
them to design their own key chain.

(c ) To apply our knowledge learnt from the “Fundamental of Entrepreneurial

Acculturation” course.

2
(d) To improve our leadership skill and learn how to carry out a success
business project.

(e) To learn the different and effective ways to promote business product
and how to overcome the problems faced in promoting.

(f) To gain experience and instill entrepreneurship skills through solving

different business risks and challenges when carrying a business project.

Our company main objective is to present the Perler Beads and how it can be
used. We promote to our customers how to craft the key chain and let them
design their own key chain. After that, we take the orders and craft the key
chains with their desire design. Our customers very satisfy with the products
we sold. Furthermore, we able to apply the knowledges learnt from the
“Fundamental of Entrepreneurial Acculturation” course in carrying this project.
For example, we used the knowledges we learnt to write a business proposal.

Through this project, our leadership has been improved and also learnt how to
promote a product more effectively. We also gained the precious experience in
making a business that will be very useful in our future.

3.0 IMPLEMENTATION AND EFFECTIVENESS OF BUSINESS

STRATEGIES (PROPOSED) IN ACHIEVING THE OBJECTIVE

The business strategies that we've utilised and as mentioned in our proposal is
by handing out flyers, also we've pass the word around among our families and
friends. Other than that, social media such as instagram and facebook has also
been used. Out of all the these strategies that we planned to boost our profit,
the passing of word around seems to be the most effective in achieving the

3
main objectives of the company which is to earn profit instead of having losses.
Friends are more likely interested to our product if the marketing strategy is
done manually as they need to personally see the product themselves to be
fascinated and buy them. Other marketing skills are not so effective, because
people cannot see the texture of the product, and just thought of it as
something commonly sell in the market.

4.0 PROBLEMS THAT THE COMPANY FACED

The first problem that we encountered during the practicum project was that
we could not decide the price of each of the products that we have made
because the design of the customers is not fixed. This is because different
peoples tend to have different kind of taste and personality which they are
going to choose design for the products based on what they like personally.
The second problem that occurred while doing this practicum project was that
we cannot take many pre order and design the perler beads by our own hands
because of the lack budget to buy the perler beads. The problem is still
unsolved. The third problem that our group faced during practicum venture
was that we lack of the colour of the perler beads which lead to our group
could not do the design that the customers wanted.
The last problem happened during the Expo was that the customers that came
to our booth is more interested in buying the pre oder design only as we could
only design whatever design that came up to our mind as long we could design
within our perler bead range of colours and number of beads.

4.1 WAYS TO OVERCOME IT

For the first problem’s solution was that our group suggests that the more
difficult and complicated that the customer want us to design the price will
going to be more expensive than other designs.
The second problem cannot be solved. The reason why the problem is difficult
to solve is because it takes time for the ordered perler beads to be arrive in

4
time before the Expo.
For the third problem’s solution that our group faced during the project was
that we suggested the customers to choose another design that our group
affordable to make.
The last problem is solved. We told our group to persuade the customers that
came by to our stall to buy our product and negotiated until the customers
please with price that we gave to them.

4.2 BUSINESS STATEGIES NEEDED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEMS

To make sure that our group can get profit from selling the product, we choose
to made pre order for everyone before we sell it during the Expo.
We use the pricing strategy to solve our problem for the last minute before the
Expo day end. Our group decided to decrease the price of the product from RM
2.00 to RM 1.00 for the small size design while RM 3.00 to RM 2.00 for the
medium size in order to clear the stock that me made so that we can get more
profit for each group members.
Besides, we were not only focusing on promoting our product at the stall that
they, but we divided our group among each other earlier. Some of the group
members going around the Expo finding the customer and persuade them to
buy our product.

4.3 MAIN RESULT

There are many challenges and problems that our group encountered during
the Expo but we overcome with calm and professional by using our time
management properly and work towards completing our mission and aim. We
were also able to attract many people to buy our product during that day. That
shows that our product is interesting in the customers eyes. We also earned
back our capital and made a roughly profit by RM 5.80 for each group
members.

5
5.0 LESSON LEARNED

Throughout this course, I have learned that being an entrepreneur is not an

easy task. It requires patience, strong will and most importantly teamwork.
From the production process to the marketing, it all requires huge amount of
teamwork for it to be a success. Honesty is also an important aspect espescially
when it comes to handling the company's financial flow. Other than that, we've
also learned how to do a business proposal, from A to Z. This might come in
handy in the future if either one of us wants to venture into a new business .
Also , having advertisements and passing the word around is good to further
boost our company's income.
On to the product, there are also lesson learned from producing the product.
On the good note, we've managed to introduce this unheard product to
everyone. They're also fascinated with this new product. From producing this
product alone, teamwork is very important. Also a good workmanship is vital
for the quality control. Simply rushing to produce the product will not do, it
requires time, energy and plenty of patience to produce a complete product
,from its appearance to its durability. From what we've noticed is, people are
willing to spend money as long as the product is durable and nice to see. For
producing this product also,we've learned that heat must be applied
consistently throughout the product. To produce a durable keychain, the holes
on the perler beads should be close completely in order for them to not have a
chance to break. We've also enjoyed ourselves during the making of the
product, we've learned the beauty of craft , and increased our knowledge on
arts and design. This is beneficial to us, as it is completely contrary to what
we're studying, which is the engineering course, this is an added skills for us
engineers, to develop our artistic side and most importantly boost our creativity
skills.
Last but not least, during the expo APK, communication skills is important. If
you have a good communication skill, people will be convinced , and eventually
will buy your product.Having a network of friends is an added bonus. Honesty
is the best policy. A company will not succeed and will be constantly at los

6
there is one person in the company who steals and lies.
In conclusion, teamwork is the foundation of the company, without everybody
pitching in their ideas and hardwork, this company will never work.

7.0 RECOMMENDATION TO IMPROVE BUSINESS

There several recommendations for the future group that wanted to sell the
same product as ours. These recommendation are to improve the operation of
the business.
Firstly, the promotion method for the product that our group as well as the
other group had done was just by sending digital poster of the product though
Whatsapp to their friends. This method is not that effective because only small
numbers of customers can be obtained as a result this method. The
recommendation for this is by printing hard copy of the poster and pasting it on
notification boards at our respective faculty and residential areas. Another
recommendation is to make a promotion booth at faculty or library several
weeks before the APK Expo by displaying design that have been made. This
way, we can get more pre-order from other students from other faculty. Apart

12
from that, setting up a Facebook page is also an effective way to promote the
products as customer can directly made their pre-order to production team.
Secondly, order to attract more customer to drop by to the stall, the stall should
be decorated with more attractive and colourful decoration and the decoration
must be placed securely so that it would not fell of as this can show bad
impression to the customer about the stall. Apart from that, the stall also
should be neat and rubbish free throughout the day. This can be done by
placing the product neatly when displaying them and prepare rubbish bag for
customer. In addition, name, description and pricing of the product also should
be stated clearly on the stall during the APK Expo. This will avoid confusion
among customer about the product especially the pricing of it. In short, the
overall appearance of the stall plays an important role in attracting customer’s
attention.
Thirdly, it is recommended for each group to have one person to keep a list of
all the pre-orders in Microsoft Excel. Every group member can send their list of
pre-orders to that person. This method will make the product pre-ordering
operation more organised and systematic. Beside that, the amount and quantity
of material also can be estimated easily with this method. Hence, it can avoid
misproduce the pre-order.
The next recommendation is to have enough members in the production of the
product, at least four to five members. Having enough member in making the
product will produce more products in short period of time. Hence, it can
increase the productivity of the group. Each week, the production member can
do meet up for several hours to make the products together. There, members
of the team can discuss and contribute their ideas for the product, for example
design of product which that catches customer’s attention.
Lastly, communication plays an important aspect in improving business
operation. A person who can communicate with customers very well can
convince their customer to buy the products. Therefore, every group member
should have good communication skills in term of business communication in
order to promote their product effectively. Apart from convincing customer to
buy the product, good communication skills can also aid when during

13
presentation for example presentation of business proposal. On the other hand,
having good personality will portray good impression toward customer. So, each
member should be polite in attitude and conversation toward customer while
selling and promoting their product. In a nut shell, good quality in an individual
is important in doing a business.

8.0 CONCLUSION

As a conclusion, as a team we have learned a lot of things throughout this

project that we have done. Organizing ourselves is the difficult part but yet we
able to do it and work more efficiently. Although we were small in numbers we
able to understand our thoughts throughout this project. Apart from that, as we
are new to these things we able to study the concept and growth of a business.
We also understood that the factors which determine a successful outcome in a
business is coming up with creative ideas of new business opportunities and
way of approaching the customers. Being equally fair and clean in conducting
the business. We have learned that, exploring the business prospects around us
study about the surrounding competitors are the vital things to be done. We
also concerned much on financial part and managed it well on pre preparation
and also on the day of the event. Finally, this project had taught us a lot in
planning a business and improved our managing skills.
