In partnership with APICS, Dawson College’s Centre for Training & Development (CTD) has been the
prime provider of the APICS courses since 1984. Courses are offered in English and CTD is proud to have
always maintained the highest teaching standards and ensured the best combination of convenience
and learning effectiveness.
The attached brochure is meant to provide you with all pertinent information regarding the following
training programs and workshops:
Students wishing to enroll in any of the courses offered by the CTD can do so in person, online or by
telephone. Our online registration can be accessed via the CTD web page:

In addition to the APICS training programs, CTD also offers a wide range of courses and workshops in

PRODUCTION AND INVENTORY MANAGEMENT
CPIM COURSES
The Production and Inventory Management courses enable employees to gain the technical and
functional know-how and confidence to enhance their job performance. Participants will understand
how to deliver products and services Just-in-Time, streamline operations through accurate forecasting,
and manage all aspects of the supply chain.

Execution and Control of Operations
Focus on the areas of prioritizing and sequencing work, executing work plans and implementing
controls, reporting activity results, and providing feedback on performance. The course explains
techniques for scheduling and controlling production processes, the execution of quality initiatives and
continuous improvement plans, and the control and handling of inventories. Topics include:

LEAN MANUFACTURING
As more organizations decide to go lean, demand is escalating for a skilled team and system wide
approach for developing and implementing lean project plans. These workshops are designed to equip
you with the broad knowledge and tools to map the transformation for developing a lean culture at your
organization.
The APICS Lean Enterprise Workshop Series is organized to enable you to approach and understand the
lean transformation process systematically. Using scenarios from a fictitious company, Murphy's Toys,
you will be tasked with finding lean solutions to a myriad of challenges. This method will provide you
with the flexibility to immediately customize what you've learned and implement it at your own
organization.
Introduction
You will gain an overview of the many components of implementing a lean transformation in your
organization and gauge your organization's readiness through a hands-on assessment.
Lean Culture
Explore the effects of a lean implementation on your employees and learn about the importance of
teams. The Kaizen, a team-oriented continuous improvement event will be introduced in this
section.

Just-in-Time
Determine customer demand, standard work, line balancing and many other tools to meet customer
demand. Participants will explore the use of a heijunka system to meet customer demand through a
hands-on activity.
Measuring
Review the way a lean company measures and align measurements with objectives. Topics include lean
accounting, inventory costs, target costs and lead time.
Sustaining
Learn about the long-term changes to sustain the gains made. Topics include lean design, analyzing
failures and ensuring ongoing quality control and continuous improvement.
GLOBAL SOURCING
Companies and organizations need skilled operations management and supply chain management
professionals to keep their businesses favorably positioned in today’s intensely competitive global
marketplace. The Global Sourcing Workshop Series provides a comprehensive study of the critical tasks
and challenges associated with sourcing and procurement internationally. This workshop series will
equip you with the skills to:

OMERIC COURSES
The Operations and Inventory Management Principles courses are for participants new to materials and
operations management or people working in positions that interact with this field.
The four-module format of the Fundamentals courses teaches basic concepts, techniques, and
terminology of materials and operations management.
This course will impart a fundamental knowledge and understanding of inventory management
principles and techniques, providing participants with a greater understanding of their roles and
responsibilities in the control of inventory and the impact that inventory can have on a business.
Principles of Planning
This course introduces participants to the principles of effective planning. The course presents the
concepts of planning at each level, from strategic to tactical. Participants work together to solve
problems, develop plans, build teams, and present solutions. Through this course, they learn the
essential ingredients of effective planning and have an opportunity to practice and enhance their own
planning skills.
This course will impart a fundamental knowledge and understanding of basic planning principles and
techniques that are used at each level of the planning process, providing practical examples and
exercises that give participants an opportunity to improve their planning, teamwork, and presentation
skills.
This course will impart a fundamental knowledge and understanding of priority and capacity
management.

Principles of Operations Management
This course is concerned with the design of systems to produce goods and services and the operation of
those systems. It discusses relationships within the company environment, particularly with marketing
and product design. Topics covered include facilities planning, total quality management (TQM), cost
analysis, project planning, and operations resource management.
This course will impart knowledge and understanding of operations resource management and the
factors involved in designing and operating a production process.

COURS CPIM
Les cours CPIM permettent aux employés d’augmenter leur savoir-faire technique et fonctionnel, et leur
donne la confiance nécessaire pour augmenter leur rendement au travail. Les participants apprendront
à livrer produits et services en « juste à temps » et à simplifier les opérations à l’aide de prévisions
précises et à travers le contrôle de tous les aspects de la chaîne d'approvisionnements.
Le matériel des cours est actuellement disponible seulement en anglais. Cependant, les cours sont
offerts en anglais et français.

Detailed Scheduling and Planning
L’accent est mis sur les différentes techniques qui servent à l’ordonnancement des matériaux et de la
capacité. Les détails de la Planification des besoins matière (MRP), la planification des besoins en
capacité, les pratiques d’excellence dans la gestion des stocks et dans la gestion des achats et de la
planification du fournisseur sont couvertes. Les sujets abordés incluent :
• Techniques et pratiques de la gestion des stocks
• Mécanique du processus de planification détaillée des besoins en matériel
• Planification des opérations pour soutenir le plan de priorités
• La planification des achats et des sources externes d’approvisionnement

LEAN
L’organisation de la production est perçue aujourd’hui comme une méthode pertinente pour combattre
tous les types d’inefficacité, d’où l’intérêt pour le concept lean. De plus en plus d’organisations adoptent
les principes de la production à valeur ajoutée (PVA ou lean). Des équipes qualifiées en lean sont donc
en demande croissante, tout comme les approches globales et intégrées en implantation de projets
lean. Ces ateliers sont conçus pour vous enseigner les notions de base du lean ainsi que les outils requis
pour cartographier la transformation afin d’implanter une culture lean dans votre entreprise.
Durant ces ateliers, les participants sont familiarisés avec les divers aspects d’une implantation lean; ils
apprennent la théorie et surtout participent aux travaux pratiques en relation au processus. Ces ateliers
vous permettront de :
• procéder à l'autoévaluation complète de votre organisation pour déterminer si elle est prête à
mettre en œuvre les principes du lean;
• acquérir une expérience pratique en implantation de projets lean en entreprise;
• concevoir un plan d’implantation pour la mise en place d’une culture lean dans votre entreprise.

Exposé général des composantes de la mise en œuvre d’une transformation Lean dans l’organisation et
vérification du niveau de préparation de votre organisation a travers une évaluation pratique
La culture Lean
Analysez les effets de la mise en œuvre du Lean sur les employés, tout en prenant conscience de
l’importance des équipes. Le Kaizen, une démarche d’amélioration continue en équipe est introduite
dans cette section.

Méthode juste-à-temps
Déterminez la demande du client, le travail standard, l’équilibrage des chaines et autres outils qui
servent à satisfaire la demande du client. Les participants exploreront la méthode heijunka pour
satisfaire la demande à l’aide d’une activité pratique.
Mesurer
Révisez les méthodes qui servent à mesurer et aligner les mesures avec les objectifs. Les sujets incluent
la comptabilité Lean, les coûts d’inventaire, le coût cible et le délai d'exécution.
Le maintien
Apprenez les changements nécessaires à maintenir les gains obtenus. Les sujets incluent le design Lean,
l’analyse des défaillances, le suivi régulier du contrôle de la qualité et l’amélioration continue.
SOURÇAGE INTERNATIONAL
Les compagnies et organisations ont besoin de professionnels en gestion des opérations et de la chaine
d’approvisionnement afin de garder leurs entreprises bien positionnées dans l’environnement
compétitif et global du marché d’aujourd’hui. La série Global sourcing workshop fournit une étude
compréhensive des tâches critiques et des défis associés au sourçage et à l’achat international. Cette
série d’ateliers sera axée sur les sujets ci-après :
• L’importance stratégique de la globalisation.
• La préparation à l’approvisionnement international.
• L’évaluation des marchés potentiels à l’étranger.
• Le sourçage stratégique des fournisseurs globaux.
• Le choix des partenaires logistiques.
• Les différences culturelles.

PRINCIPES DE LA GESTION DES OPÉRATIONS ET DES STOCKS

COURS OMERIC
Les cours principes de la gestion des opérations et des stocks s’adressent à ceux qui œuvrent dans les
domaines de la gestion des opérations et des stocks (ou dans un service connexe qui interagit avec
ceux-ci) et qui doivent en connaître les concepts, les techniques et la terminologie de base.
Principes de planification
Ce cours jette les fondations de toutes les activités pour planifier la gestion de la production et des
stocks en présentant aux participants les principes de gestion et de prévision de la demande au sein du
processus de planification. On y étudie différents types et divers niveaux de planification se rapportant à
la gestion des matières, de la planification stratégique à long terme jusqu’aux plans et aux programmes
directeurs de production à court terme.

REGISTRATION
Participants may register up to four (4) working days prior to the start of a course in any one of the
following ways:
In person: Register at the Centre for Training & Development at 4001 de Maisonneuve West,
Room 2G.1, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Staff members will be available to
assist you with the online registration process.
Online: Participants may register online with the use of a MasterCard or Visa. Please visit our
website at www.dawsoncollege.qc.ca/ctd.
By Phone: Participants may register by phone with the use of a MasterCard or Visa by calling
514-933-0047.
Memberships
Participants who are members of APICS, the “Manufacturier et Exportateurs du Québec” or the
“Réseau des Ingénieurs du Québec” will be given a reduction of fees upon submission of their
membership number. Please call the Centre for Training & Development with your membership number
to get a discount.
Receipts
Participants may retain their Tuition Fees receipt for tax purposes. Official tax receipts will not be issued
by the College. To ensure that receipts have the proper information, please notify the Centre for
Training & Development of any address changes.
Tuition fees will be fully refunded if the College receives written notification of a student’s cancellation
five (5) business days prior to the start of a course.
80% of the tuition fees will be refunded if students withdraw from a course and notify the College in
writing before the beginning of the second class.
