This study model was created to represent the concentration gradient of tea, as it steeps
from loose tea leaves and infuses into the hot water; constantly changing shapes in the pro-
cess and weaving through the water in the mug. The wooden boards on top of the model
can rotate around the threaded rod to allow the elastics to fill different amounts of space to
represent multiple stages of the tea as it steeps.

The study model shown above was used to in-

fluence the design of a parklet in front of Kuro
Kuma, a Café in the Upper West Side of Man-
hattan. The purpose of the parklet is to extend
the café seating outside, by taking over one 9’
wide and 18’ deep parking space. The U-shaped
bench inside the bungee chords in the parklet
create a semi-enclosed space- bringing the
comfort of the inside of the café outside- for the
customers to explore.

parklets were disigned to be invit-
ing spaces for people to explore
creatively, as if they were play-
grounds for people of all ages.

 The Floating Pavilion was
designed as part of my senior
thesis about resiliency
planning for urban flood
management. This pavilion
would be made out of four
9.5ft x 40ft shipping
containers and would float in
the Hudson River along
Manhattan, NY, between Pier
25 and the North Esplanade.
The Floating Pavilion would
serve as a public space with
exhibits and events in the
shipping containers meant to
catalyze conversations about
Manhattan residents’
connection to the waterfront
in a way that fosters an
energy of excitement and
