As a soon to be graduate from the University of North Texas (UNT) in Denton, Texas, I would
like to highlight the bilingual educational experiences that have prepared me to contribute to a
multicultural district such as yours. During my undergraduate career, I have had the
opportunity to affiliate with Lewisville ISD on several occasions. The most recent association
being Professional Development School (PDS) where I am fortunate enough to collaborate with
the dual language program offered at Peters Colony Elementary. There, I assist in providing
meaningful and innovative learning experiences for bilingual second and third grade students.
My primary focus is to further enrich an institution that already creates relevant learning
experiences for students who are the future of our diverse population. Through current and
previous interactions with various elementary classrooms, have I encountered the purposeful
vision of an educator’s responsibility to the students’ interrelationship with the community. The
importance of learners’ collaboration with each other and their environment has become
increasingly apparent as I strive to implement learning experiences that are all-inclusive in my
current position. This includes anything from executing collaborative learning strategies in the
classroom, to utilizing involvement of families and the community as partners in the
educational process.
Sincerely,
Cynthia Hill
