NURS 481- Transition to Professional Nursing Practice

Purpose of Assignment
The purpose of this assignment is to address the student’s attainment of all eight
behaviors and/or competencies that are specific outcomes of the program including: critical
thinking, nursing practice, communication, teaching, research, leadership, professionalism, and
culture.

Student Approach to Assignment


This paper highlights how I was able to achieve the eight competencies and the
progression that I have made from my junior year to my senior year. Through examples, I am
able to showcase my growth from a new student nurse to a veteran student nurse, and how I was
able to achieve these core objectives. This paper truly highlights what I have achieved in nursing
school and the progress that I have made in my journey of becoming a registered nurse.

Reason for Inclusion of the Assignment in the Portfolio


This assignment is included in the portfolio because it highlights my progression into The
Great Eights: critical thinking, nursing practice, communication, teaching, research, leadership,
professionalism, and culture. It is a required component in my portfolio that showcases how I
met a number of required objectives for my senior year.
