My Background

Teacher Para-educator Coach


Currently in 1st year as a 17 Years as a Para-Educator in a Head Track Coach for 18 seasons
Moderate/Severe Teacher at variety of class.
Granite Hills HS Assistant Track coach for 6 season
- English 11th – 12th grade
1 year as Moderate/Severe Teacher Assistant Football coach for 15
at Apple Valley HS - Self contained classroom seasons
- Math
- English 9th – 10th grade
Classroom Philosophy

• My style is one of a Demonstrator or Coaching Style (Hot Chalk)


• Demonstrate & Show – HOW and WHAT with both WORK and
BEHAVIOR. This is ongoing its something that is modeled daily from all staff.
• Task Oriented - STAY on task from bell to bell.
• High Expectations
• Keep it safe keep it clean

This Philosophy comes from years of coaching, and works for what I do and who I am.

Creating a Team Approach

• Get everyone involved, make them understand they matter.


• Everyone has a role, make sure everyone understand their role.
• Listen to the people involved.
• Don’t be afraid to ask for help
• Give expectations of what you expect
• Establish procedures so everyone is aware how the class will operate

• Establish the CHAIN of COMMAND


• Teacher leads the class.
• When student have questions who can answer them?
Depends on the question & who can best answer it
• Drink, Restroom, Don’t feel well
• Personal matter, School related

• Make everyone feel part of the TEAM


• Define roles and tell other what their role is
• Listen to input and ask people what they think
• Let others lead
• Don’t forget to involve your students, they are also members of the team!
