WARNING
 Take care when jointing tubes and handling
the drill bit.
12
Mind your fingers!

 To avoid the risk of serious injury, keep your
clothing, hair etc. well clear of rotating parts.

13
 Connect the first section to the rock drill. Lift the

boom and feed beam. Feed forward to move the
section out through the break-out table and suction
9 hood.
 Turn on rotation and connect the COPROD head by
hand or place it on the ground and feed slowly until
the section threads on to the head.

Hint:
To remove a COPROD section from the tube carrousel:
— swing the section from the carrousel to the drill
centre on the feed beam.
— connect the tube driver and run the section down
through the lower guide in the break-out table.
— lower the feed beam to the horizontal position.
— swing the gripper arm away from the feed.

member to first loosen the joint between the end piece
and the tube with the aid of the break-out table before
removing the section from the feed beam.
Before the rock drill is removed for service, the tube
driver must be dismantled.

Lubrication
Correct Wrong Wrong
The rotational torque from the rock drill is transmitted to
the drill bit via the bit driver 14, which therefore requires
continuous lubrication. Lubrication is by means of an
oil/air mixture supplied by the pump of the lubrication
system on the drill rig. The oil is pumped directly into
the flushing air at the recommended rate of 30–50
drops per minute.
 The oil/air mixture passes between the rods and the
tubes, through the grooves in the guides and stop
ring and down to the splines on the bit driver and
