Technology Standard Addressed: 1-Empowered learner

Selected Technology Tool:

☐ Socrative ☐ iRespond ☐ Quizlet ☐ Plickers ☒ Kahoot! ☐ Office365 Forms
☐ Other:
URL(s) to support the lesson (if applicable):

Technology that student will use to respond to questions/prompts:

☐ Computer ☐ Hand-held student response system (like iRespond) ☐ Phone ☒ Tablet (such as iPad)

Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

Universal Design for learning could easily be integrated into this lesson. Students who have a hard time
sitting still to actually learn the material could benefit from one of the under the desk bicycles. Every student
could benefit from using a set of VR glasses to actually see what a tornado or thunderstorm looks like up
close.
Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
The students will learn about the weather prior to completing this activity. They will know and understand all
of the characteristics of different types of weather and how to identify them. This activity will be a review of
what we have already learned.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☒ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☒ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

The students will answer the question on Kahoot using the Ipads. The teacher will be controlling Kahoot.
Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):
☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☒ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?

Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?

After, we will review what the students need extra practice on.
How will the data be used?
The data collected will show which students answered which questions right. It will be used to assess what
most of the students are struggling with so we can go back and practice it more. This information will be
shared with the student so they understand what they could use more practice in. For the questions multiple
students missed, we will go back as a class and review the topic that most students are struggling with.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.

I hope that this activity gives me a better understanding on what to spend more time on with the students.
It’s a great way to see what they need extra help on and what topics we are ready to move on from as a class.
Reflective Practice: After designing this lesson idea, how do you feel the activities you created could impact
student learning? You may have designed this idea as an introductory activity to a unit of study. With that in
mind, what could be done to further extend the lesson? Are there other technology tools that could further
enhance this project?
This is a fun activity and it’s an awesome way to review what the students have been learning about the
lesson. We could further this topic by letting the students create projects of different types of weather. For
example, a tornado in a bottle or rainstorm noises using rice and a pan.
