Understanding the Fuji Model Naming System
With so many products from a single source it becomes well worth the few minutes it takes to understand the
naming scheme Fuji uses throughout the guide selection. Below is a listing that should help you “catch on” to the
way things work. The most confusing aspect of mastering the system is the “no letter” designations on certain
guides. Here’s the key: A guide with no letter and an SiC ring (designated by an “S” in the ring material space) is
always a GUNSMOKE Frame. The same guide with an ALCONITE ring (designated by an “A” in the ring material
space) would be Polished Stainless.

Every Fuji Guide Starts With the Best Ring Materials in the World
Fuji’s selection of ring material is the best in the world. From premium TORZITE® to economical Aluminum Oxide,
Fuji’s “no-groove” promise together with a proprietary diamond polishing technique and carefully controlled cross
sections optimized for deep pressing into concept frames result in guides that offer superior durability and excep-
tional ”no pop” performance for years of dependable service.
TORZITE®
Brand new from Fuji, TORZITE® is the first ring material in component his-
tory to be designed and formulated from birth as a guide ring ceramic.
Tougher and more resilient, it’s combined specifications for hardness, frac-
ture resistance and polish exceed SiC. Thanks to the specs, TORZITE® is de-
signed thinner and lighter than any ring Fuji has ever offered with wider ID’s that allow for
use of smaller frames while maintaining sufficient ring openings.
ALCONITE®
ALCONITE® is a masterful blend of economy and quality and the go-to choice on millions of
custom and factory built rods each year. ALCONITE® is a special type of ceramic that offers
80% greater compression strength and is 20% lighter than Aluminum Oxide. Diamond Pol-
ished to superb smoothness, ALCONITE® boasts super-low abrasion on any line type. When
combined with the Concept frame the results are unparalleled ... 35% lighter and up to 50%
stronger than competitive guides.
Concept “O”
The most economical concept ring in Fuji’s history, Concept “O” is an improved Aluminum
Oxide formulation that has been tweaked to the hardness, resiliency and fracture resistance
needed to be deep pressed into Fuji’s best concept frames like the MN and LN. Concept “O”is
the best choice when you need all the features of a great Fuji guide at the most economical
prices in history.
Aluminum Oxide
The longstanding workhorse of the Fuji lineup, Aluminum Oxide will fill the bill for a great
guide at a great price. All Aluminum Oxide rings are diamond polished to an ultra-smooth
finish and come in a variety of frame styles and finishes.

In the Beginning Was Fuji’s New Guide Concept
The result (some 20 years ago) was the “New Guide Concept”, a
Japanese translation that is slightly literal and probably contributes
to the confusion that has surrounded the theory since its introduc-
tion. The New Guide Concept is, in its basic form, a way of thinking.
It’s a way to approach any rod building project and, by using the
ideas set forth in the concept, determine the best size and location
for any number of guides on any type of rod.
The New Guide Concept (NGC) spawned the development of an entirely new selection of guide designs called
“Concept” guides. These guides met the criteria outlined in the NGC. Combining NGC and “Concept” guides re-
sulted in quantifiable performance gains across the board. The New Guide Concept has become the world stan-
dard for guide train design and performance.
More guides DECREASE the need for taller framed running guides.
In the past, taller frames were used in tip sections to lift the line away from the blank. More
guides in the tip section eliminates the need to do this, allowing a low profile rod with less
5
wind resistance and lower torque. Torque is the tendency for taller casting guides to try to twist
the rod sideways under load. Torque, when loading the rod on a cast, has a significant effect on
accuracy. Less torque means better accuracy.
With these observations in mind, Fuji expanded their thinking to specifically address the way
these ideas would effect spinning and casting rod guides, and develop products that met the
criteria outlined in the concept.
Fuji ”broke the code” for smaller, lighter tip section layouts that showed a vast improvement over conventional
layouts, but they still had one major hurdle to overcome - the question of how to better manage the line as it
flew in chaotic coils from the spool of a spinning rod.
To address the issue, engineers noted two characteristics of all spinning rods that they could work from. First,
spinning reel bodies angled upward toward the blank (called ”upsweep”, it is measured in degrees of angle). The-
oretically, line coming from the spool would cross the blank even if no guides were present. Second, the diameter
of the spool represented the maximum width of the line coil coming from the spool on a cast. That coil must be
managed down to ”zero” at the crossing point predicted by the angle of the upsweep. The triangle formed by line
coil and the angle could predict which guides would best manage the line and allow it to flow smoothly to the tip
section guides. The illustration below shows these relationships and the problems ultimately solved by the “Con-
cept” guide designs..
A variety of Concept Guides were developed to be of the proper ring size and guide height for a given point on the
upsweep axis.
For example: 19 inches from the spool axle tip the centerline of the triangle might measure 44 mm off the
blank. This height would be matched by a K-Series KL guide with a 25mm ring. All Fuji Reduction Guides
are designed to be of sufficient ring size at a given height to allow for excellent performance. Based on up-
sweep information, these guides will ”automatically” position themselves in the reduction train for any
blank. Builders will have options and should choose the final layout they desire.
There are many options for using the guidelines of NGC to layout the reduction train of a spinning rod. Once reel
choices are made and given heights of various guides are known, it is a matter of placing the guides along this
imaginary line. Currently, there are two methods most often used that simplify the math and allow for quick, ac-
curate set-up of reduction trains. Good accuracy will require
that you have the reel you plan to use and/or you have in-
stalled your handle and reel seat on the blank and can
mount the reel (or one closely similar)
6
the reel that are used to compute the “upsweep” angle, determine the choke point and automatically select the
position of a wide variety of guides relative to the tip of the spool axle on the reel. The software provides exact
placement in printed layout sheets for 10 of Fuji’s most popular frame designs. Accurate reel measurements are
critical in gaining good results from GPS and tutorials are provided for proper reel measurement.
The second method is perhaps less scientific but requires no math and results in very good layouts that often re-
quire minimum “fine tuning” to perform at optimum levels. It is called the “Table Edge Method” and offers an in-
stant visual picture of what guides are needed and where.
Simply remove the spool from a reel mounted on a rod with no guides. Lay the rod and reel on a table with a long
straight edge. Move the reel to the edge of the table and align the spool axle exactly along the edge of the table.
You will notice immediately that the end of the rod blank extends off the edge of the table. The point where the
rod leaves the table edge is the “choke point”, the point where the reduction guides end and the running guides
begin. Guides are selected and positioned based on where the height of the guide would touch the table edge.
1) How far from the tip of the spool the first guide, or stripper will be if the top edge is positioned at the table
edge. (Normally the stripper will fall from 19 to 22 inches on 2000 to 4000 series reels and 22 to as much as 28
inches for larger 6000 to 10000 series reels.)
2) The remaining reduction guides (between the stripper and choke point) are chosen based on height and how
they space down the blank. Look for good even spacing and a “bullseye” when you look through the stripper ring
down to the choke guide ring. Let the spacing determine the ring size.
Beyond the choke point are the “running guides”. At this point the line is controlled and running smoothly down
the blank so these guides can be as small and light as possible. They can also be the same size all the way to the
tip of the rod.
7
Recognizing a Concept Guide
Fuji redefined component technology with the advent of ”concept ” guides. These guides must fulfill the parame-
ters of the New Guide Concept and be lighter, stronger and smaller than traditional guides. Fuji’s efforts resulted
in new technologies that have changed the entire industry. Concept guides can be recognized by many character-
istics including:
1) NO-WELD construction
Concept Guides™ are stamped from a single sheet of high-grade, corrosion resistant stainless
steel and sent thru a series of 20 shaping molds to attain their final form. This series of micro-
bends assures no compromise in tensile strength, better recovery, proper hardness and lighter
weight.
3) Thinner Rings
The development of the Deep Pressed ring housing pro-
vided a level of protection that makes a thinner ring per-
form as well as its bulkier predecessor. The result is a
smaller frame that offers a larger ring opening with no
compromise in strength and a substantial weight reduc-
tion as well.
8
All of the above design improvements were developed by Fuji to support what was learned from experiments with
the New Guide Concept. Each innovation was targeted to satisfy and enhance performance in a particular area of
the guide train. Each was refined and improved until it made the most substantial contribution possible to the
overall performance of the rod. Many companies have imitated Fuji’s original designs, often without a full under-
standing of the synergies in the design and often without a working knowledge of the original concept. Fuji re-
mains the only component manufacturer with the research and development resources and manufacturing
capacity to create products that are exactly matched to the performance goals set forth in the New Guide Con-
cept, still the most widely accepted rod building concept worldwide.
9
KR CONCEPT: The Latest Technology
Fast forward from the New Guide Concept to a time when the rod building world is buzzing with micro-guide news
and builders everywhere are developing theories about why and how they work. Oddly, the craze seems to support
Fuji’s original NGC parameters about using smallest, lightest guides that will do the job. Micro guides, however,
represented the extreme and Fuji made the decision to provide solid research based on a broad range of experi-
mentation to see if they could offer some basis for the
many ideas swirling around the trend toward smaller
guides. The result was a comprehensive and thor-
ough investigation of the way micro guides
performed and a completely new se-
lection of products to sup-
port what Fuji called
the KR CONCEPT.
Fuji’s KR Concept is firmly entrenched in the original NGC. Some axioms discovered by Fuji in their original body of
work remain unchanged. Others, however have been tested and modified to account for different behaviors of fast
choking small guides and todays more supple braided lines. Below are the basic tenents of the KR Concept, some
will be familiar, others are relatively new.
1) Many of the principals of the New Guide Concept hold true in the development of a new evolved concept. Guide
position based on the upsweep angle of a spinning rod, for example, is still very important in a successful reduc-
tion train layout. Running train layout with respect to Static Loading follows New Guide Concept parameters with
only minor changes usually brought about by the lower height of smaller guides.
2) Guide height becomes the single most important factor in small-ring reduction trains. KR Concept uses new
high-frame, small ring K-Series guides to successfully control line through much smaller rings provided the ring is
at a proper height to handle line flow. This new information is counter to the longstanding idea that spool diame-
ter is a key factor in determining ring size of various reduction train spinning guides.
3) Smaller ring sizes in strippers and reduction train guides leads to better line control. Added control aids in mov-
ing the line down and near the blank earlier, effectively moving the choke point closer to the reel. Moving the
choke point toward the reel eliminates the need for a forth reduction guide and instead requires an additional
running guide. The addition of a single running guide improves sensitivity, power, recovery and casting distance
since the line is flowing smoothly along the blank earlier in the cast. Fuji has named this process “Rapid Choke”
and it has a notable impact on rod performance.
4) The design of K-Series guides enhances the effect of “Rapid Choke” due to the 30-degree slope of the frame
and ring. Fuji engineers do not claim that the slope makes Rapid Choke possible, only that the downward facing
ring enhances the effect and contributes to overall performance. Because of this effect, Fuji has chosen to expand
the K-Series product line as the guide frame of choice for KR CONCEPT layouts.
5) Adding a running guide (and sometimes two) moves mid-rod stress from larger re-
duction guides to smaller micro guides now positioned in the mid section of the rod.
To handle these larger loads, Fuji has developed the KB guide, a small ring guide
with a larger, beveled foot specifically designed to handle mid- section stress.
6) Research by Fuji indicates a point where smaller rings have no additional benefit and can actually create prob-
lems. For that reason, Fuji’s smallest guide recommendation for any rod is a size 4, with sizes 5 and 5.5 recom-
mended for heavier rods and saltwater applications. These recommendations are the best compromise with
respect to overall weight, effect on rod action and potential problems that may occur with smaller rings. KL-H
guides feature the same sloped ring as other tangle-free K-Series guides but the smaller ring sits atop a much
higher frame. For example, the bottom edge of a 20mm KL-H is equal to the bottom edge of a 30mm SV.
10
Guides Designed Specifically for the KR Concept
KR Concept Casting Guides
To satisfy the discoveries made in the KR Concept research, Fuji developed a series of guides that are included in
the K-Series “family” but stand as a separate selection for specific KR Concept applications. Although similar to
the K-Series KL single foot frame, the KL-H features a higher frame and smaller ring that allows the benefits of
micro-built rods to be fully realized. Last year, Fuji expanded the selection further by offering smaller reduction
train guides in medium and low heights to allow for the use of KR Concept guides in non-micro running guide
sizes. Builders can now choose a true micro build with size 5.5 and below running guides or choose a more con-
ventional rod with running guide size 6 and up while still enjoying the light weight and responsiveness of a KR
Concept rod.
The latest guide from Fuji is the double foot version of the KL-H called the RV (due its reverse design). This guide
is very unique since it follows the scope outlined in the KR Concept normally associated with “micro” rods and yet
has the strength and durability to be used on even the largest surf fishing rods. Using the RV and KR Concept, surf
rod and boat rod builders are discovering all the advantages of a lighter build with no sacrifice in durability.
KL25H KL20H KL16H KL12H KL10H KL8H KL8M KL7M KL7L KL6M KL6L KL5.5M KL5.5L
KR Casting Guides include a single unique guide designed to control and eliminate line chatter from baitcast
spools using a high-frame, small-ring guide placed on the rod in “reverse” position. With a single leg toward the
reel, line slap is eliminated and casting distance increases.
11
Running Guides for both KR Casting and Spinning
Past the “choke point” outlined in the both the NGC and KR Concept the role of a good guide train is to efficiently
carry the speeding line to the tip of the rod. According to Fuji engineers, this is best handled by a series fo small,
low guides of the same size all the way the tip. Although sizes are best matched, stresses along a rod under load
can vary significantly, particularly in the mid-rod area when fighting bigger fish that bend the rod well into the
lower sections. To address this problem, Fuji developed two distinct running guides for the KR Concept. the KB
“Belly” guide and the
KT runner.
KB “Belly” Guide
KT Runners
Using K-Series guides only, both NGC and KR Concept, builders can now complete virtually any rod building project
be it a 13 foot surf rod throwing “8 and bait” or an ultra light crappie rod with a size 12 stripper and 4.5 KT runners.
K-Series guides have evolved to be Fuji’s broadest line of guides and it includes highly specialized guides like the
KB, the small high ring RV stripper for casting rods, and the new reverse design RV Surf strippers.

12
Using KR Concept “Groups” for Fast, Efficient Spinning Layouts
Fuji has carefully considered the height and ring size of every guide used in KR Concept layouts. Further, engi-
neers can predict with good accuracy how different guide sizes will be used and what kind of rod they will be
used on. And, according to NGC and/or KR Concept guidelines, these guides should fall in a straight “bullseye”
path and become progressively smaller to properly reduce line chatter to a choke point. Designing guides to meet
all of these parameters results in logical “groupings” of certain guides. Again and again in the research, particular
groups of guides emerged as the best choices for a specific set of circumstances. This led to the idea of simplify-
ing the use of KL-H guides into “groups”. The groups discussed are designed to work efficiently within different
ranges of reel size and line choices. Each group will space properly using the sizes suggested and provide excel-
lent casting and fish fighting characteristics.
The illustration at left shows that if the proper group is chosen the guides will space
properly and achieve a straight reduction path regardless of the length of the overall re-
duction train. Each reduction train from top to bottom is progressively shorter yet
guides maintain a straight line from the stripper to the choke point. This straight line
provides the “bullseye” often referred to as the best reduction train layout available for
efficient line control.
To choose the best group, simply determine the size reel you plan to use, type of line
you prefer and overall length of you finished rod. Then, choose a “group” of reduction
guides that best meet the criteria you have outlined. GPS for KR Concept is a new soft-
ware application on the Anglers Resource website that is downloadable and will in-
stantly provide guide groups and placement on any blank once your group is selected.

K-Series - the Flagship Guide Selection from the World Leader
Any discussion of premium guides usually centers around Fuji’s K-Series.. Since it’s introduction some 6 years ago,
it has been not only the major focus of Fuji’s expansion but also the most talked about new design since Fuji first
introduced Concept Guides 20 years ago. With the introduction this year of the RV Series double-foot, reverse-fac-
ing surf guide, the selection is complete. In fact, it is so complete that many rod builders and factories are often
confused about “best use’ of the product line. Here’s a rundown, with more details on the page where each prod-
uct is detailed.
1. ARCHED FRAME: K-Series guides feature the first ever arching frame design. This slight forward bend
allows “lure energy” to immediately release loops BEFORE they tighten into tangles.
2. SLOPED RING: A vertical ring “slows” the positive effect of the arching frame so Fuji engineers have
further enhanced performance by designing a one-of-a-kind sloping ring. The slope helps potential
problems continue moving forward where they slip off the top of the guide. The angle is sufficient to
shed tangles yet has no effect on line choke.
3. FLARED FRAME: Evident in the Concept Guide and perfected in the K-Series, the flared frame manages
“line chaos” at lure release better than any frame design ever tested. And, sends potential trouble up
and off the ring frame.
4. BRACE PIVOT: A close look will reveal that the metal braces pivot 90-degrees before entering the ring
frame. A wider, vertical brace against the ring frame is much stronger than previous designs and allows
a smooth, flowing transition from the brace.
5. DEEP PRESSED RINGS: The deep pressed ring frame was invented by Fuji® for Concept Guides and has
made the transition to the K-Series™. Deep pressed ring frames are lighter, stronger and almost totally
encase the ring in metal, allowing the use of lighter, thinner rings with no sacrifice in overall integrity.
6. SHORT FOOTPRINT: Because the ring slopes, the brace for the double-foot K-Series spinning guides
can be pulled forward more than ever before, allowing super-strong, double-foot guides on medium and
heavy saltwater spinning rods with virtually no change in rod dynamics.
15
KW
The KW Frame is a double-foot Concept Guide used on a wide variety of NGC builds. KW fea-
tures a double-sloped frame and ring, deep-pressed design with the short footprint charac-
teristic of all K-Series guides. In sizes up to 50 for use on the largest surf rods and all the
way down to a size 5 for use on durable baitcasting set ups. 15 sizes and 6 different ring and
frame material combinations make the KW one of the most versatile K-Series guides avail-
able.
KL
The KL Frame is a single-foot Concept Guide used on a wide variety of NGC builds. KL fea-
tures a double-sloped frame and ring, deep-pressed design and high-entry frame braces
characteristic of all K-Series guides. Primarily used in designing reduction trains on medium
to medium heavy spinning rods of all kinds. Available in reduction train sizes only from 30
down to 12. Ranks as one of the top spinning rod reduction guide choices world wide.
KB
The KB Frame is a unique Concept Guide used in virtually every K-Series build layout as a
mid-rod “belly” guide. The extra large foot makes it uniquely suited to survive the high
stress associated with deep bending into the mid and lower section of the rod under load.
Specified in both NGC (New Guide Concept) and KR Concept builds, the KB is often the top
choice as a choke guide on spinning rods. Fuji recommends 3 KB’s on casting rods and at
least one at the choke point of spinning rods
KT
The KT Frame is the go to Concept Guide for running guides in virtually every K-Series build
layout. Light weight and perfectly suited for use in the top section of baitcasting and spin-
ning rods. Specified in both NGC (New Guide Concept) and KR Concept builds, the KT profiles
above the foot exactly like the KB offering a seamless consistent running guide profile from
choke to rod tip
KL-H
The KL-H Frame is the original KR Concept single -foot reduction guide. A game changer in
many respects, this guide satisfies all the theory embodied in the original KR Concept
micro hypothesis. A size 25 KL-H is over 6mm taller than a size 25 KL, offering fast choking
performance for small running guides down to size 4. Available in 13 sizes including a vari-
ety of medium and low heights for perfectly tailored reduction trains.
RV
The RV rounds out the K-Series selection as a super-duty, double-foot for surf and boat
rods. This guide is a true K-Series guide with sloped ring, deep pressed technology and high
brace 90-degree entry. Single front leg eliminates all line slap on the frame and brace con-
figuration allows a very short footprint for a guide this strong. In TORZITE®, the ring is
flanged, offering a guide with line coil contact against super slick ring material rather than
frame metal for longer casts and less line wear than ever before. Also available in a size 6
for use as a casting rod stripper guide.
16
Using K-Series NGC Guides
Blow are a series of suggestions that will help you get the most from using K-Series Guides
• Below a size 7 runner always add the KB to the layout. Use at 3 on a bait-
caster and at least 1 on a spinning rod.
• Use the original K-Series guides EXACTLY like you have been using Fuji
guides (or any other guides for that matter) since the New Guide Concept
came out 19 years ago.
• KW is the double foot. Use it like the old SV or MN. It’s available from a size
50 down to a size 5 - suitable for virtually ANY double foot rod you may ever
hope to build.
• KL is the single foot. Use it like the old LV. It’s available from a size 30 down
to a size 12 - suitable for any spinning rod reduction train except maybe the
largest surf rod. Below a size 12 move to KT frames which pick up with the
size 10.
• KT is the running guide. Use it like the old L runner. It picks up where the KL
leaves off at a size 10 and goes down to a 4. Perfect for any single foot runner
needed on any rod - micro or otherwise.
• Stick with K-Series guides for the complete guide train. They all feature a
sloped frame and ring and they are all tangle free...and they look great to-
gether.
• Remember, the KL and KW are used for standard New Guide Concept lay-
outs, when you move to the KR Concept....it’s different guides.
17
Using K-Series KR Concept Guides
1) KL-H is a K-Series tangle-free guide but is used only for micro and/or braid
KR Concept rod layouts. It is a high-rame, small-ring guide series that is not
used with NGC builds using KW or KL frames.
4) KT is the sole running guide in the K-Series selection and is used on both KR
Concept and NGC rods.
5) KB and KT are used together on all K-series rods both NGC and KR CONCEPT.
GPS for KR Concept on our website is fast an efficient way to utilize the proper KR Concept guides. It will not only
choose an efficient reduction train, it will select mid-rod guides and running guides and provide a printed layout
sheet for your project.

TORZITE® is the first and only ceramic
material formulated specifically for
guide ring applications.
For decades, the rod component industry has struggled with ceram-
ics adapted from other industries; abrasives, insulators and coatings
have doubled as ”guide rings” since the mid 60’s. Now, for the first
time, the world leader in ceramic engineering has joined with Fuji’s design team to examine guide ring inserts
with a fresh perspective - to reinvent guide rings with a laser focus on what guide rings should do. As hoped, such
a powerful alliance has resulted in not only a guide ring formulation that shows superior performance, but one
that has also met the challenge of optimizing the deep-pressed technology Fuji® has perfected over almost two
decades of development. In short, Fuji® has created a better ceramic that is lighter, stronger, more durable than
ever before.
TORZITE® rings have proven superior to other ring materials in ways that al-
lowed a complete re-tooling of what a guide ring should look like and how
it should perform. The extra strength, fracture resistance and polish
achievable with TORZITE® led to larger inner diameters, smoother finishes,
more forgiving cross-sectional profiles and excellent heat dissipation - all
of this in a ring that deep presses with more precision and durability
than any previous ring. Welcome to the first ceramic born to be a guide
ring - TORZITE®...available exclusively from Fuji.
TORZITE® is strong enough to allow the use of less ring material in any given
frame. This saves weight and opens up the inside diameter as much as a full
ring size! For example, if you compare a KL10H TORZITE® to the same guide in
19
SiC. The size 10 SiC has an inside diameter of 7.04 mm, the

the TORZITE® ring! You not only save weight but also expand
the functional dimension of the inside diameter...but here’s
the bigger picture. More than simply a bigger ID, TORZITE® al-
lows the use of the next smaller guide size without a reduc-
tion of inside diameter when compared to SiC. A size 12 SiC
ring has a 8.27 mm inside diameter - almost identical ID to
the size 10 TORZITE® ring! It’s not only about a lighter ring, In running guide sizes TORZITE can offer

Fuji’s New “RV”. A Heavy Duty, Double-foot KR
Concept Guide that’s ready for anything.
Fuji’s high-frame, small-ring KR CONCEPT has revolutionized the way designers
think in terms of guide train weight vs blank performance. But, since the in-
troduction of the single-foot KL-H, heavy power rod builders - surf casters
and boat/jigging rod users have been very vocal in their demands for a true
KR CONCEPT heavy-duty, double-foot guide selection.
We are happy to announce that the wait is over. New “RV” style K-Series
guides feature the same tangle-free, premium quality construction as
other K-Series guides with some obvious and important differences.
Altogether, the reverse design is a substantial improvement, but there’s another factor at play in the TORZITE®
ring version that boosts performance to an even higher level. The TORZITE® RV features a flanged ring (FH) that
wraps outside the metal frame and provides a surface FOUR times smoother than SiC (we can’t even calculate
how much smoother and slipperier it is than the metal frame your line hits now!). Line from the reel begins chok-
ing against a surface that offers a lower coefficient of friction than any other ring material available - offering
smooth, effortless casting in a super durable double-foot design.

Fuji’s new “Arowana Top” may conjure visions of the lower jaw profile of the fa-
mous Arowana fish, but other than the jaw profile it’s difficult to compare some-
thing this new with an ancient fish. The “KG” top is new in more ways than it
appears to be, and Fuji has brought it out with a selection wide enough to make it
a step up for almost any rod.

Creativity. Another Advantage of Fuji’s New Seats
PTS and TVS seats both require the use a of a carbon sleeve insert through the core of the seat. Once in place, the
sleeve provides a carbon fiber contact point against the arbor, making it more sensitive than arbored seats that
contact only the seat material. The other advantage is the option ti use more decorative inserts to match the color
scheme of the rod. Some builders are also experimenting with wood, aluminum and turned acrylic sleeve inserts.

K-Series For (NGC) continued
K-Series guide trains of all kinds have a few things in common. The specialized KB Guide, for example, is used as
the choke point guide and mid-section casting guide in every K-Series guide train specified. And, all KB’s are fol-
lowed by the standard KT running guide, a strong, lightweight guide that pairs perfectly with other K-Series. The
KB and KT are listed here, and will be repeated as guides used in KR Concept rods as well.

K-Series Guides For Fuji’s
New KR Concept Micro/Braid System
KR Concept is a game changer in terms of great performance at lighter weights. KR Guide trains are lighter than
anyone could have imagined just a few years ago. Although Fuji developed the concept with special attention to
the “micro” craze, in the final review they realized the parameters were appropriate for any braided line and for
conventional “non-micro” rods as well. Ultimately, KR Concept has impact far beyond micro rods and is an ad-
vance in the performance of any rod using braid and most rods using monofilament or fluorocarbon lines. The K-
Series Guides in this section are designed specifically for builders wanting to apply the KR Concept to a wide
variety of finished rods.

K-Series For KR Concept (continued)
Although it may seem repetitious to include the KB and KT as Guides for the KR Concept, it is important to note
that the same K-Series guides used for NGC layouts are also used in the KR Concept. Since running guides carry
the line in a straight path to the rod tip, the same models serve both concepts equally well.

Fuji Seats. Unmatched Durability
Fuji reel seats are famous for unmatched comfort and true “lifetime” durability. Molded of a proprietary
graphite/nylon material, they have set the standard for over 35 years as the reel seat to match for durability, qual-
ity and good looks. This year, Fuji has introduced newly styled seats that have been re-thought from beginning to
end. The TVS and PTS seats deserve a good look and will quickly become some of the most sensitive and comfort-
able seats available.

VSS
Fuji’s VSS Spinning seat is lightweight, extremely tough and designed with a
stylish and functional “collar” that protects cork in critical areas near the reel
seat. Available in Standard and Deluxe models with a variety of hoods.
NPS
Reel Seats Standard & Deluxe are the lowest profile seats offered by Fuji with a
narrow design that “hugs the blank and adds a sleek look to any rod. Available
up to size 20 and is a good choice in larger sizes for surf rods.
55
DPS
The tried and true DPS seat is the a simple solution to virtually any spinning rod
building project. “Pipe” seats offer more creative flexibility than just about any
other seat and the wide range of sizes makes them right for ultra-light spinning
rods as well as the biggest surf rods. In Standard and Deluxe models
56
ACSM Casting Seat
There is no faster, easier or more effective way to install a reel seat than choos-
ing a “cored” seat. Measure the diameter of your blank at the point the reel seat
will fit, choose an ACSM with inside diameter that matches you blank and simply
glue in place. Notched for 100% contact with the blank no matter the diameter!
57
ECSM Cored Casting
ECSM is a slightly different design with all the same features as the ACSM in-
cluding the cored inner diameter for a perfect fit on any blank from 9.5mm to
17mm in diameter! 100% blank touch through a large underside cut-out.
IPS
IPS seats are similar to the VSS with a unique collar for added wear protection
on cork or EVA grips. Lightweight , arbored seat that fits cork part BGS
58
SKM
The original Skeleton Seat and without question the lightest traditional seat
until the SK2 showed up. Huge versatility with this seat with 360-degree blank
access. In size 16 and 17.
PSS
A seat designed with bottom fishermen in mind. Places all four fingers ahead of
the trigger which cradles the palm and eliminate trigger fatigue.
PLS
A new, lightweight palming seat with blank-touch cutout designed for better
wrist position and more hook set power on Flippin sticks and light bottom rods.
You can’t fully appreciate the remarkable feel of this seat until you try it.
DPSH
The heavy weight of the graphite/nylon seats, DPSH is available in
big sizes for big rods and big fish. Think of it as a DPS on steroids.

CARBON FIBER
BLANKS
79
Welcome to a list of features
you won’t find anywhere else.
Dynamic Filament Bias
Inside the walls of a Point Blank are as many as three grid-like layers of incredibly
strong carbon filament material that travel 360-degrees around the blank at specific
plus and minus angles from tip to butt. Careful control of critical angles results in
improved hoop strength while actually increasing flexibility. Better still, the dy-
namic adjustability of these angles adds a totally new way to control action
and power in any given blank. But that’s not the only thing Dynamic Fila-
ment Bias does...
1) Equal diameter allows simpler hardware installation and no worries about mis-matched tapers
that can lose contact between handles and blank. Better contact increases strength and sensitivity.
2) Equal butt diameters force initial taper further out the blank. This is what gives Point Blanks a
”big butt” profile but it also allows a degree of dead lift power unmatched by rods with similar lure
weight and line class ratings. A Point Blank in any power or action class will out ”boat flip” any com-
petitive model with similar specs.
80
Focused Pulse
Difficult to explain but easy to feel, Fo-
cused Pulse is a unique benefit of an
equal diameter butt section. In a tapered,
Point of focus
hollow blank, fibers transmit vibration
much like a megaphone. In a continuous
taper blank these vibration speeds past
the handle and are absorbed by a cork or
Traditional Taper
EVA butt cap. In Point Blanks, the taper
ends at the beginning of the continuous
diameter, causing a disruption in what would otherwise pass through the blank smoothly. This ”sta-
tic” from rebounding vibration is focused at or slightly ahead of the reel seat and makes even subtle
bites easier to feel.
Tape2
Point Blanks undergo a high-overlap, high pressure pre-oven
wrap designed to assure that the resulting resin/carbon fiber
matrix is uniform, consistent and absolutely void-free. Point
Blanks are less prone to failure as a result of this highly con-
trolled pre-oven taping and the resulting blank is uniform,
strong and offers more consistent performance characteristics
from blank to blank.
Tape2 Traditional

Choose your weapon.
We feel that as a Custom Rod Builder you should be able to compare blanks at a glance to make a more informed de-
cision about the rod you plan to build. That’s why Point Blanks go beyond the obscure 1 thru 5 power rating system to
give you an actual Power Reading. ”PB” is Point Blank; ”66” or ”73” is length in feet and inches; ”1” or ”2” is number of
pieces and ”(300)” indicates power rounded in 25 gram increments.
