Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

Kahoot is a fantastic resource teachers can use to engage their students, and test their understanding of
content material in a fun way. Kahoot allows students to utilize their phones or other electronic devices to
answer questions related to the lesson, as well as compete against their classmates for points. This same
Kahoot quiz can be translated into multiple languages so that ELL students can participate as well.
Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
Prior to this SRT activity students will be introduced to the lesson on communicable diseases. The information
they learn from this lesson will aid them in answering all questions located on the Kahoot. This Kahoot quiz
would be great to use at the end of the lesson to test students understanding, at the begging of the following
lesson to test students’ memory, or before a test to help refresh students on communicable disease
information.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☒ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

The students will log into Kahoot using an electronic device with access to Wi-Fi, and put in the specific code
for the communicable diseases quiz. Students will work independently to answer all the questions on the quiz
as accurately and quickly as possible. This activity should take no longer than 10 minutes.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):
☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☐ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
Students will be able to receive immediate feedback from the quiz regarding their answer choices. After the
quiz any questions from the students will be addressed by the teacher.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
After the quiz has been completed we will discuss all the answers to the quiz, as a class, to clarify any
questions students may have had.
How will the data be used?
The data from this quiz will allow the teacher to see how well the students grasped the information from the
lesson on communicable diseases. If an area of misunderstanding is identified from the quiz results, then time
can be spent in following lessons touching on the information students were struggling with.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.
The goal of this activity was to test the understanding of the students on their knowledge of communicable
diseases. This activity will be a fun and engaging activity that makes the learning process fun for the students.
Students can use this Kahoot to test their understanding of content material, or refresh themselves before a
test.
Reflective Practice:
This Kahoot provides the students with a fun and engaging way to test their knowledge/understanding of
communicable diseases. This Kahoot could be viewed at any time outside of the class as long as the students
have the access code. In future lessons students could create their own Kahoot quizzes and test their fellow
classmates.
