Elliot Eisner

• He was a professor of Education and of Art at Stanford
University.
• Served as president of the National Art Education
Association, International Society for Education through
Art, American Educational Research Association, and the
John Dewey Society.

• Supported the Getty Center for Education in the Arts and


their creation of Discipline-Based Art Education.

• Created “10 Lessons the Arts Teach” which


NAEA still uses today.
• Received numerous awards for his contributions to art
education including five honorary degrees.
• Wrote 17 books, countless papers and articles and
presented lectures worldwide.
