Temaline & Elevators

• Temaline solution allows integration to elevators in a variety of
ways.
• Using TS_AC01 or TS2 controller and I/O it’s possible to interface
any kind of elevator, independently from brand and protocol, via the
Traditional way with a reader inside the elevator-car COP.
- The above is available since EBI310-Temaline 4.9
• TS_AC01 also supports serial protocol to a variety of elevators as
per below table. Also in this case it’s required the reader inside the
elevator.

- All the above are available since EBI310-Temaline 4.6.1.

New Integration – New Opportunities

Temaline & Kone

• Starting from EBI430-Temaline 5.5, Temaline solution offers new
ways to integrate to Kone lifts, one of the global leaders in the
elevator and escalator industry that employs more than 40.000
experts to serve its customers locally and globally.
• This new integration to Kone lifts improves the opportunities to
compete in large complex new buildings bids.
• The Temaline-Kone solution is currently available for Beta site
projects and we are looking for opportunity where this integration is
required to have it deployed and tested in a controlled way.

Traditional Elevator Control Systems

• In a traditional elevator control system passengers decide which
elevator to use, they enter in the elevator car and press the desired
floor button on the Car Operating Panel (COP).
• In the interaction with the access control system a reader is located
inside the elevator car and the reading of the card provides to the
elevator system the info related to the floors the passenger has rights
to reach, this is used to manage the Car Operating Panel (COP) so that
only allowed floors for the cardholder will be enabled on it.
• Temaline can interface to Kone and any other elevator brand in
traditional way by using TS_AC01 and TS2 and I/O modules to
manage digital outputs.

Destination Control Systems

• In a destination control elevator system (DCS) one or more
Destination Operating Panels (DOP) are available at each floor of the
building from which passengers can select the floor they want to
reach.
• The elevator system assigns to the passenger the elevator to be used
and shows it on the display of the DOP.

• In the interaction with the access control system a reader

connected to AC system is installed nearby the DOP or embedded in
the DOP itself.
• The ACS provides info on access rights of the passenger to the
elevator system.
• Temaline interfaces to Kone-DCS from EBI430Temaline5.5, beta site
is required.

Destination Control Systems

• A destination control elevator system can optimize the traffic and, in
this activity, could also take into account some specific requests of the
passengers (Priority call, travel in elevator with specific characteristics,
VIP elevator use allowed, and so on…).

Turnstile or "Remote Call Giving"

• The approach of an elevator system using Remote Call Giving
(RCG) is to get the information on the cardholder from an AC reader
at the entrance of the facility (typically on the entrance turnstile
barrier) and immediately show to the cardholder (on an Elevator
display nearby the AC reader) the elevator that has to be used to
reach his usual office floor.
• This way to work is based on the knowledge of the floor of the office
of the cardholder stored into the cardholder personal data.
• Usually RCGIF is installed together with the Destination Controller
system that it is used for the management of destinations different
from the default one.
• Temaline interfaces to Kone-RCG from EBI430Temaline5.5, beta
site is required.

FAQ
• Q - What SW is needed to interface lift?
- EBI with Temaline interface is required.
- For any type of lift interface is necessary to consider Elevator option
licencing (EBI-Specifier).
- 1xLicence for each elevator to be managed, independently from the
number of floors to be managed or the numbers of controllers involved.
• Q – In which ways is it possible to interface elevators?
- TS2 or TS_AC01 with I/O.
- TS2 with IP protocol to Kone elevator;
- TS_AC01 with available serial protocol.
- More details about interface to Kone in table below.
- More details about other brand in table pag. 1.

FAQ
• Q – The readers inside the elevator-car used for managing a
Traditional Elevator system should be counted in EBI licence?
- Yes
• Q – The readers used for managing a DCS should be counted in
EBI licence?
- Yes
• Q – The readers used for managing a Turnstile or RCG system
should be counted in EBI licence?
- Yes
• Q - The I/O used for managing a Traditional Elevator system should
be counted as points in EBI licence?

FAQ
• Q – Is there a limitation on the number of floors that can be
managed?
- Using Traditional interface via I/O the max number of floors managed
is 60, determined by the max number of I/O supported by TS_AC01
and TS2. Best performances with max 16 floors.
- Using serial protocol the max number of floors managed is 128, but
also performances need to be taken into consideration, so depending
from different variables.
- Using IP protocol to Kone the max number of floors managed is 512,
but performances need to be taken into consideration, so depending
from different variables.
• Q – Is it possible to use the same TS_AC01 or TS2 to manage both
lift and Access Control?
- TS_AC01 doesn’t allow to support AC and lift on the same device, they
are managed by different FW.
- TS2 support both features with the same FW. Performances need to
be taken into consideration.
