Hi,

I just thought of sharing few questions related to electrical & electronics

engineering. Which may firstly look silly but, they really make enthusiastic
learners (Especially Engineering Students) to analyse in different possible ways
and understand concepts in most analytic and Physical way. This ultimately creates
lot of love towards subjects and enhances the passion and physical way of
understanding things.

There is a most important rule for answering/analysing these questions, that is not
to apply any Mathematics or generalised statements of inventors (like faraday law,
Lenz law etc..) or any formulas/expressions. Because, example Math is one of the
powerful tool to simplify and further analyse the electrical science. But mostly
friends are getting carried away with these things and losing the true physics that
is happening inside every concept.

Here are few questions:

1)Why EMF is getting induced once the conductor cuts the magnetic field?? What is
happening inside the conductor??

2)Why the induced EMF opposes the changes in very cause producing it??? (Dont end
up with law of conservation of energy should go other way deep. because this
similar principle is used in modern magnetic trains propulsion).

3)Why an inductor opposes alternating excitation and act as short for steady state
excitation.?? What is happening inside of it ??(No math / Frequency expressions)

4)Why Capacitor blocks DC & allows alternating quantities?? Can currents pass
between the plates of capacitor??? Why the current in the cap is called displacing
current??

5)What this generalised statement is used like, Inductor absorbs reactive power and
Capacitor deliver reactive power??? Can it be vice-versa??? If So why can their
roles be interchanged in the real power systems??? Like Cap as Ferranti device and
Inductor as Voltage booster??

6)Why MOSFET is Faster than BJT?? Why the current is flowing reverse for some
duration during the reverse bias of diode?? Why only Enhancement mode MOS are used
in real power electronic applications?? Why secondary break down is absent in MOS??
Why is MOS a PTC & BJT an NTC??

7)Why the ac inductive drop of dc generator is not considered in the output

terminal voltage equations?? And why a commutator is used for AC Series Motor?

8)Why in a Three phase induction motor, when the rotor is excited it rotates
opposite to the direction of stator RMF?? (Not Just Lenz law)?? And why cant the a
3ph transformer rotate same as 3ph induction motor as both are same w.r.t to
working principle??

9)In a line to ground fault with neutral isolated situation the fault current
proven to be zero, then why cant we adapt such a system by which we can avoid the
normal deaths due to leakage shocks and bring the advantages of grounded neutral by
some other alternate ways??? What is difference between grounding and earthing??

10) Ideally characteristics of an OP-Amp it is stated that the gain is infinity

and potential difference between the both inputs is zero, then how can you justify
the math (Vout = Gain * V_difference) ?? why positive feedback op-amp architecture
is used for Schmitt / Multi-Vibrator Circuits??
11) Why actually B-H Curve non- linear? Why the frequency of noise is twice the
supply frequency and why it increases with magnetic flux density?? Why does
transformer Hums (not just magnetostriction)??

12) Whether transformer size is dependent on frequency?? If so why physically??

Why the voltage regulation in a transformer is calculated w.r.t. No.Load voltage
and while that of machines it is w.r.t. Full load Voltage??

13) Why the Generators/Alternators/Transformers are KVA rated and Motors are KW
rated?? Why shunt generator is called self-protected one ??? how come without
change of commutator same dc series generator can be operated on AC with reduced
performance?? What are the applications of differential compound motor??

14) Why there is no predetermination of efficiency procedure for alternators as

like transformers and DC Machines??? Why is transformer a negative feedback
circuit??

15) What is the basic difference between circuit & network?? Is the power system a
series/parallel network/ none of it?? Is there any change for the current to flow
between equal- potential points ?? if so how?? What is differences between EMF/
voltage/ potential difference?? Why current is same in series??? Why voltage is
same in parallel??

16) Why the current distribution is different inside a conductor for AC and DC???
What is happening physically (not just skin effect definition)??? Why current
carrying conductors in the same directions tend to attract??? What are
drift, diffusion, conduction and displacement currents?? Why cant the protons do the
real business of electricity ?? is there any possibility?? Why N-channel
semiconductors are most preferred than the P channel??
