As a pediatric tutor in the ICU of the children’s hospital, I visited multiple children between the ages of five and eleven in
order to provide assistance with academic standards various children missed in the classroom due to severe illness. Ma-
jority of the students who received assistance missed large periods of classroom time; therefore, knowledge of Arizona
state standards deemed useful and necessary as I guided students through core standards while absent from the formal
classroom.
