PROJECT EXPERIENCE

ADITHYA INFOMEDIA SOLUTIONS Jan 2009 – May 2009

Title : “Controlling of Electrical Appliance using 3-Way communication”

Organization : Adithya Infomedia Solutions Ltd, Chennai.
Duration : Jan 2009 – May 2009

Project Description:
Controlling of devices ia a major issue in appliances. The main of this project is to design a device to control
and Implement devices from a remote place. Mobile to PC interface using DTMF technology for controlling
devices connected to PC, and to control applications in the computer. Two mobile devices are used. Master unit,
where switching and controlling is done. Slave unit, which is connected to PC unit. The device is interfaced with
DTMF decoder with the help of Atmel 89c51 microcontroller.

Working principle:
Device control using Computer:
Using computer the devices are connected through parallel port and the on/off operation can be done
simultaneously. This is done in the VB environment. The on-off position can be monitored using the window on
the screen.
Device control using Internet:
In this module the same devices can also be controlled by internet. A PHP web server is created and the device
status can be seen in the database of the server. The status can be altered either using landline or computer so the
status should be checked simultaneously.

Responsibities:

Ability to explain the concepts involved in controlling the devices

Actively participated in analyzing the various features and consequences of the project with my team members.
Drafted the documentation of the project.
MINI PROJECT

TRAFFIC LIGHT CONTROLLER Mar 2009 – Apr 2009

Title : “TRAFFIC LIGHT CONTROLLER”

Duration : March 2009- April 2009

Project Description:
Signal lamps consists of cluster of Red, Green and Yellow LED's. These lamps require current of 60 mA which
microcontroller doesn't capable to deliver this current, hence drivers are used. The purpose of microcontroller is
to switch on the signal lamps with proper timing and to read the timer on/off switch and to dip switches for pass
time delay. With the help of timer on/off switch the Timer can be enabled or disabled. LED shows the status of
operation. By configuring jumpers, the pass time delay can be changed.

Working Principle:
ATMEL 89s51 microcontroller and other hardware components such as Driver BC557, LED lamps, DIP
switches, PCB for microcontroller unit, Reset switches, resistors, crystal 11.0592 MHz and a 12V power supply.
Upon the power is applied to the circuit, microcontroller initializes its ports for driver, status led indicator, timer
on/off switch, jumpers for variable pass time and enters in infinite loop where it checks for the timer on/off
switch. If it is enabled timer is on and signal lamp switches in sequence. If timer is not enabled all the roads are
cleared. Every time it checks for the jumper to determine pass time for vehicles.

Responsibilities:

Ability to explain the features and details of the project

Ability to explain the project with the help of block diagram and to describe the special
features of the microcontroller used in this project.
