only appreciate the arts and tutelage, but excel in them. They are painters,

Each one is a diva (or deviant) in their own art, but talent is not enough. A

beauty. The goal of House Vindirl is to advocate beauty, elegance, and
perfection within the Imperium through any means at their disposal.
Coat of Arms: The Rosequill; A golden pen with a pointed nib, its shaft made
from a rose with golden stem and leafs, but with petals of crimson and indigo.
The Rosequill rests diagonally inside a traditional shield, with a western
dragon coiling itself at the base.

Uniform Piece of Clothing: House Ring. Each member of House Vindirl is

gifted a special ring crafted in the shape of a tangle of vines with a fully
blooming rose. This ring references the Rosequill and the offer of such a ring
to a non-member by a Vindirl holder of a signet ring is the official invitation
into the house. There are three signet rings; one held by Lady Sabine and
one each held by her two liaisons.

House Colors: Crimson and Indigo. Gold is a nice trim for these colors and
highly recommended. All members of House Vindirl are required to incorporate
these colors into at least 70% of their garb.
House Vindirl
Code of Conduct

The quill will trump the blade but some promises are better sealed in blood.

Preserve beauty.

Present elegance.

Perfect all, within your influence.

Cunning above conflict; the sword cuts clean but to be outwitted is a wound that

festers.

Ugly, eremite behavior indicates a lack of intellect and is beneath us.

Your Housemates are your kin. Stand for and behind them.

Your word is your Honor, and your Honor is the Vitae of The House. Do not

give it lightly.

Never leave words of a discreet nature in script after their message has been

passed, unless they are of greater importance than memory can preserve and are

hence guarded.

Commit words of power to memory ~ All in House Vindirl must be able to

complete at least one of their most vital abilities without reading from their spell-

books, scrolls, or item cards. Mages must be thrice as learned, and keep a

proper, personalized spell-book.

All members of House Vindirl must appreciate the arts and be skilled in some

form of artistic performance, creation, or expression. We are the bards, the

tinkerers, the artists and the scholars of the Imperium.

All members of The House Vindirl are expected to participate in at least one

category of the Tournament of the Dove whenever it is held, but especially at

Crown Tournament. Members of The House with the title of Dove will be given
special favor.

The House dress code is as follows; members of The House are required to

dress in a tasteful, high class and fashionable manner. Hems must be mended.

Dirt and grime must be absent, unless they are the badge of one’s most recent

accomplishments. House colors are crimson and indigo and must make up 3/4ths of

one’s attire. All members of The House are given a house ring. Lady Sabine’s

most trusted retain a house signet ring. Signet holders have the authority to

moderate garb, enforce rules, and speak for the House.

Obey the holders of The House signet rings. All may speak, but only those with

permission may speak for The House.

Always behave with The House interests in mind. Those who act otherwise act

alone.

Herein are The Elements of Our Nature.

We who are Bound by these are The House Vindirl

House Members
Sabine Vindirl Head of House
St. Jonathan Vindirl Signet Holder
Darling Skiff
Chief Tuka-Tuk
Asdis Zindel
The Hierarchy
House Vindirl has five ranks, or levels for its membership:
Head of House
Signet Holders
Nobles
Guards
Scions
These levels of membership imply certain privileges, authorities and
responsibilities. Each rank has its honors and its limits.
The common rights of all house members are the same, and all members,
regardless of rank, must obey the Code of Conduct and Principles of
Behavior.

House Ranks
Details on the specific duties of Signet Holders, Nobles, Guards and
Scions are found under the Principles of Behavior.
Head of House – The Head of House is responsible for all its inner
workings. Head of House approves new members, organizes house
presence at events, manages house resources and constructs the rules
and code of conduct that members must follow. The Head of House is
nobility and their word is law. Their decisions and ability to lead by
example will ultimately determine the success of failure of their household.
Signet Holders – The ladies most trusted liaisons. Signet holders are
authorized to enforce and interpret rules, speak on behalf of the house,
give orders to the guards, and are the right hands and advisory council
to the Head of House.
Nobles – Members of the house with noble standing in the Imperium.
While nobles may ask the guards to do something, the guard may seek
approval from a signet holder or higher ranking guard before acting,
without penalty.
Guards – The hard work, dedication and skill of these valiant warriors
allows House Vindirl to operate securely. Hand chosen by The Lady,
they are to be respected and obeyed. House Guards are authorized to
enforce rules, determine who may or may not enter camp, and utilize the
house armory.
Scions –A scion is an heir or member of a family. As this is the
basic rank, all members of House Vindirl are technically scions, even
after they are promoted; a neonate may mature, but they will always be
someone’s childe. Scions are under the protection of the house, able to
enter camp freely, and share in the houses resources.
While all members of House Vindirl may proudly proclaim their association
with the house, Scions, Nobles, and Guards are not authorized to make
decisions for the house or speak in a manner that indicates their opinion is
the opinion of the house or the Lady. Only Signet Holders and the Head
of House have the ability to do so.

House Rings
Vampires ~Yes, there are vampires within House Vindirl. This is a
simple matter of fact that each of you are expected to acknowledge and
respect. If you do not know who these members are, then do not anticipate
anyone will tell you.

Demons ~ To address the accusation that House Vindirl mingles with

demons; it is not unfathomable that some of our individual members may have a skill
for necromancy or talent as a warlock, but as lovers of the arts House Vindirl is
supportive to their practice and neutral towards its nature. To say that the house
itself associates with creatures of the abyss is fatuous. All classes of magic are
welcome within the House Vindirl, so long as they are legal, of course.

Undead ~ as par the 15h Rendition of Imperium Law, under the rule of
King Rupert, The Bucket Head, undead are not considered citizens of the
Imperium, therefore they are not entitled to it’s protection. However they are also
no longer legally hunted or slaughtered without provocation.

Unfortunately, non-citizens are unable to be counted among the ranks of a citizen

house. House Vindirl is a citizen house, and as such none of her members may
have the “flaw” of being undead. As of now, the laws do not specify that vampires
are by default,
default, undead. It depends on the type of vampire. See the appendix
“Stalkers of the Night” for further clarification.
Non-citizen Players ~ Because House Vindirl is a citizen run
guild, non-citizens are forbidden by Imperium Law to be admitted. However, non-
citizens who are supportive of House Vindirl may be allowed to mingle with house
members, share camp resources, and participate unofficially so long as they
understand their place and conduct themselves in a suitable manner. Non-citizen
supporters may not speak for House Vindirl or claim any official association with
its membership or activities. They are not entitled to resources or entry into camp.
Such courtesies are extended at the sole generosity of House Vindirl’s signet
holders, guards, and Lady Sabine assuming a certain level of trust has been
established.

The Camp Site ~ At all overnight or all-day events where

camping is encouraged, House Vindirl will have its own camp site. All members of
House Vindirl are required to reside within the house campsite, and assist in its
construction, care, and guard. The camp site must be set out in formation, with the
largest tent in the center, and a cooking/meeting area nearby, with all other tents
flanking it left and right. It doesn’t matter who the largest tent belongs to, so long
as they are willing to make it look like it belongs to someone important when it is
not actually in use. This does not entitle high ranking house members to actually
use the tent or store anything in it. Its owner is its owner.

The campsite must be made to look as much like a military encampment from the
Renaissance period as possible. If you have not yet bought a tent, please consider
buying one that has a pavilion look to it, preferably in the house colors. Vindirl
who go out of their way to make their tents authentic, and keep the campsite in
order, will receive special recognition and reward from The Lady.

House Flag ~ The house flag must be at all events. Ideally, there
should be two flags on polls marking entrance to the camp, and one more, on a
taller pole, near the center of camp. Flags should also be placed at non-camping
events near the outdoor seating or on the edge of the arena at tournament events.
Camp Guards ~ House members who are willing to dedicate their time
to keeping at least one eye out for vandals, assassins, and thieves in the camp site
will be rewarded with special gear to assist them and to keep as their own. If the
house treasury can withstand, this will include latex weapons from strongblade.com
Player Knowledge
The following section is all OOC (Out of Character) / Player Knowledge that is
necessary for playing a major-role as a member of House Vindirl. It is intended
for advanced role players who are capable of separating what they know from what
their character should know. The player is allowed this knowledge to give them a
better foundation for foreshadowing and playing their part in a way that creates a
uniform illusion for one and all.
Unless your character has had the opportunity in game to legitimately grasp such
information through roleplay, blatant use of player knowledge in character constitutes
meta-gaming. Meta-gaming ruins the experience for everyone, and is essentially
cheating. Players who metagame regularly will be dismissed from the house, after
they have been repeatedly warned and reasonable attempts to break the habit have
failed.
Likewise, it is bad form to go out of ones way to try and learn these things in
character if your character would not normally be compelled to. For example, if you
are loyal to the house, and any class other than a rogue, it makes absolutely no
sense to sneak into restricted areas in the Vindirl camp to try to eavesdrop, or
invent a backstory explaining how you know these things without house leader
approval. No one is allowed to “stumble” upon the player knowledge/OOC
information contained in this book; because it implies that our secrets are not very
well guarded, and reflects poorly on The House.
Player Knowledge

Leadership:
House Vindirl is founded and lead by April Wheeler, Jake Bronson and Tony
Shannon, with April’s character as head of house and Jakes as her most loyal
and adoring cousin.

House Alignment:
House Vindirl is, by design, Lawful Neutral with occasional evil themes. We
strive to be the utmost model of courtly manners, chivalry and elegance… with the
occasional sinister plot. While we are sometimes evil, we uphold a “flock” mentality
where the common folk are not to be harassed or molested - at least not when they
can see who did it. We are not evil for the sake of being evil, and if we waste
time galling commoners we lose their support and the benefit of their doubt when
someone accuses us of being vile. If the commoners love us, we can get away with
more. We do not do silly, crazy things just to fill a quota for mischief - except for
Jake. Chaos is essentially Jake’s modus operandi.

About the Head of House; Sabine Vindirl:

As a chat/forum based RPG character created in 1998, Sabine Vindirl was the
Lawful Evil ruler (moderator) of a freestyle medieval story group. In 2005
during the Denthanus Ro campaign, circumstances caused her to go through an
alignment change to Lawful Neutral with Evil tenancies. Her LARP version is
an attempted hybrid of the original D&D/D20 and Imperium formats in which
she is ultimately evil but only when dealing with her own kind, or equals. In the
public eye, especially to humans, she portrays herself as gentle, fair, and good –
much like any adult will when dealing with children. Sabine is a non-combat
character, mainly because her abilities are not currently available in the Imperium
system, but also because her player can’t fight in a dress and corset, yet.
