Wheel in Wheel: The Book of Ezekiel and the Book of Revelation

Parallels of the two books, with a focus on the Temple and contrasts throughout in Eze. OT to Rev. NT.
There are also 3 unique crosses of chapters in Scripture parallels, I have called a tav or chi ‘X’.

Chapter 27 & 1
1) Ezekiel – Long list of cities in the province of Asia and surrounding areas
Revelation – v. 4 ‘province of Asia’ (also list of cities similar to Ezekiel)
2) Ezekiel – v.35 ‘kings’
Revelation – v.6,9 ‘kingdom’
3) Ezekiel – 40 cities listed (represents ‘all’ of the world at that time)
Revelation – 7 church cities listed (fullness, complete number of God, all his
churches)

Chapter 28 & 2
1) Ezekiel – v.15 ‘wickedness’
Revelation – v.2 ‘wicked men’
2) Ezekiel – v.17 ‘your heart became proud’
Revelation – v.5 ‘remember the height from which you have fallen’
3) Ezekiel – v.12-17 recounting the fall of Satan – ‘anointed guardian cherub’,
‘wickedness was found in you’, ‘I threw you to earth’
Revelation – v.13 ‘Satan’ x2, v.28 ‘morning star’ (Satan’s fall recount in Isaiah
14:12 How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You
have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!)
4) Ezekiel – v.25 ‘show myself holy among them’

Chapter 29 & 3
1) Ezekiel – v.6-8 ‘You [Egypt] have been a staff of reed for the house of Israel.;
v.16 ‘Egypt will no longer be a source of confidence for the people of Israel’
Revelation – v.17 ‘You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a
thing.'’ - This is a reference to a believer ‘living in Egypt’ or worldly
2) Ezekiel – v.7 ‘you splintered’
Revelation – v.8 ‘I know that you have little strength’
3) Ezekiel – v.15 ‘make it so weak’
Revelation – v.2 ‘Strengthen what remains’
4) Ezekiel – v.21 ‘On that day I will make a horn grow for the house of Israel’
Revelation – v.1,7,14 are references to Jesus Christ

Chapter 30 & 4
1) Ezekiel – v.4 ‘fall’
Revelation – v.10 ‘fall’
2) Potential link Ezekiel – Revelation Ch. 4 is dalet (4th letter in the Hebrew
alphabet) v.1 – ‘a door’ Jesus is the door, a narrow gate, and ‘the Way for all
believers.’ In contrast in Ezekiel Ch. 30 Egypt is where Israel tried to flee, where
the unbelieving Jews went on to escape the Babylonians. This might be thought of
as the wide path, a ‘way for unbelievers.’ God sends destruction on Egypt by way
of Babylonian domination

Chapter 31 & 5
1) Ezekiel – v.7 ‘roots’
Revelation – v.5 ‘Root of David’
2) Ezekiel – v.12, 13, 16 ‘fell’ x3
Revelation – v.8, 14 ‘fell’ x2
3) Potential link Ezekiel – v.2 ‘Cedar of Lebanon’ tall, proud, choicest of earth a
stark contrast to Revelation and ‘The Lamb’ who was slain v.6, a lowly, humble,
servant, slandered among men

Chapter 32 & 6
1) Ezekiel – v.7 ‘cover the sun…and the moon will not give its light’
Revelation – v.12 ‘sun turned black like sackcloth…the whole moon turned
blood red’
2) Ezekiel – v.11 ‘The sword…will come against you’
Revelation – v.4 The Red rider – ‘make men slay each other. To him was given a
large sword.’
3) Ezekiel – v.19 ‘Are you more favored than others?’
Revelation – v.5 The Black rider – ‘holding a pair of scales’ referring to justice
4) Ezekiel – v.11 ‘the king of Babylon will come against you’
Revelation – v.2 The White rider – ‘a conqueror bent on conquest’
5) Ezekiel – v.20 ‘those killed by the sword’; v.23 ‘in the depths of the pit’ (and
most of the chapter speaks of these topics)
Revelation – v.8 The Pale rider – ‘Death, and Hades was following’

The first TAV (or CHI) ‘Χ ’ – Revelation Ch. 6:15 ‘hid in caves and among the
rocks’ Ezekiel Ch. 33:27 ‘and those in strongholds and caves will die of a plague’;
Revelation Ch. 7 – Describes a great multitude in white robes in heaven in
contrast Ezekiel Ch.32 – Describes a great multitude of uncircumcised down in
the pit

Chapter 33 & 7
1) Ezekiel – v.2,12,17,30 ‘your countrymen’ x4; v.7,10,11,20 ‘house of Israel’ x4;
v.24 ‘…Israel…we are many…’
Revelation – v.4-8 ‘all the tribes of Israel.’

The second TAV (or CHI) ‘Χ ’ – Revelation Ch. 7:17 ‘will be their shepherd’
Ezekiel Ch 34:12 ‘As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with
them, so will I look after my sheep.’; Revelation Ch. 8:6 ‘trumpets’ Ezekiel Ch.
33:3 ‘trumpet’
Chapter 34 & 8
1) Ezekiel – v. 6 ‘my sheep’
Revelation – v.3 ‘saints’
2) Ezekiel – v.11-31 this chapter is about God’s people (v.6 my sheep) and the good
things He will do for them, in contrast
Revelation – v.6-13 a description of what will happen to the rest of the world or
‘the goats’

Chapter 35 & 9
1) Ezekiel – v.5 ‘their punishment reached its climax’
Revelation – the whole chapter is about the world reaching the climax of it’s
punishment
2) Ezekiel – v.3,4,9,14,15 x2 ‘desolate’ x6
Revelation – v.20-21 the sins that lead to (the abomination of) desolation

Chapter 36 & 10
1) Ezekiel – v.3 ‘talk (language); v.3,4,5,6,7,13,14,15 x2,19,20,21,22,23
x2,24,30,36 ‘nations’ x18; v.3,8,10,11,12 x2,13,15,16,20,28,37,38 ‘people’ x13
Revelation – v.11 ‘You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations,
languages and kings.’

references to Christ

1) Ezekiel – v.2 ‘chief prince of Meshech and Tubal’ – a reference to Satan?

Revelation – v.15 ‘keeps his clothes with him’
2) Potential link Ezekiel – this chapter describes where God’s people (priests) will
reside and where they will stay and what they will do in contrast Revelation –
what will happen to the rest of the world (the unbelievers) will have the 7 bowls
poured out on them

Chapter 43 & 17
1) Ezekiel – v.1 ‘the man brought me to the gate’
Revelation – v.3 ‘the angel carried me away’
2) Ezekiel – v.7,9 ‘prostitution’ x2
Revelation – v.15,16 ‘prostitute’ x2 – the entire chapter is about the Great
Prostitute of Babylon

Chapter 44 & 18
1) Ezekiel – v.6 ‘detestable’
Revelation – v.2 ‘detestable’
2) Ezekiel – v.17-27 are instructions how the priests must make themselves separate
from the people
Revelation – v. 4 ‘Come out of her, my people,’ (2 Cor. 6:17 Come out…and be
ye separate)
3) Ezekiel – v.6-13 a list of the detestable practices of the rebellious house of Israel
Revelation – v.2-8 a list of the detestable things of Babylon

Chapter 45 & 19
1) Ezekiel – v.9 ‘Give up your violence and oppression and do what is just and right.
Stop dispossessing my people’
Revelation – v.19-21 justice comes for those that were being oppressed
2) Ezekiel – v.17 ‘the Prince’
Revelation –v.9 ‘the Lamb’
3) Ezekiel – v.21 ‘the Passover’
Revelation – v.9 ‘supper of the Lamb’ – Jesus the Pascal Lamb

Chapter 46 & 20
1) Ezekiel – v.2,4,8,10,12,16,17,18 ‘prince’ x8 – 8=Jesus number
Revelation – v.11-15 The White throne judgment – Jesus on the throne

Chapter 47 & 22
1) Ezekiel – v.1 ‘The man brought me back’
Revelation – v.1 ‘the angel showed me’
2) Ezekiel – v.1-5 description of a river flowing from the temple
Revelation – v.1 ‘the river…flowing from the throne’
3) Ezekiel – v.7 ‘trees’
Revelation – v.2 ‘tree’

The Third TAV ‘Χ ’ – the entirety of parallels in Scripture of these


last two chapters of each book are ‘crossed’ and finishes these books
with the sign of the cross. Sealed with the cross!

Chapter 48 & 21
1) Ezekiel – v.32-34 3 names on each gate in each direction north, south, east and
west
Revelation – v.13 ‘There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three
on the south and three on the west.’
2) Ezekiel – v.8 ‘a special gift… the sanctuary’ v.12,14 ‘holy’ v.21 ‘the sacred
portion and the city property will belong to the prince’ v.35 ‘The LORD is There’
Revelation – v.22 ‘I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God
Almighty and the Lamb are its temple’
