Fredrick Taylor's scientific management no longer apply to modern-day management.
However, in reality, these theories are still relevant in modern day workplaces.
Your task is to explore the four principles of Taylor's scientific management and how they
are applied in a modern-day workplace, and consider how they contribute to the effectiveness
and efficiency of management in that workplace and also the potential negative implications
that such management styles have on employees.
This is an academic essay, and as such you must rely on sources to back up your
propositions or arguments.
The majority of your essay should be on the application of the four principles of
Taylor's scientific management in a modern-day workplace (i.e. call centres,
warehouse distribution, fast food restaurants, factories, etc)
Next consider how this management style contributes to the effectiveness and
efficiency, and also the potential negative implications that such management styles
have on employees.
As this is an academic essay, you must refer to at least eight sources, which must
comprise of:
- a maximum of one textbook on management (no minimum - so you don’t have to
use a textbook);
- a minimum of six peer reviewed academic journal articles;
- company sources (websites, company newsletter, annual reports) or one or two
newspaper or magazine or online articles to provide background information (to
provide background information on the workplace that you've chosen)
