Dear Reader,
Thanks for picking up this special report on The
Foundational Concepts of NLP.
I’m in the business of teaching people how to utilize
human communication more effectively.
Specifically I focus on the areas of influence and
persuasion.
It’s pretty amazing when you think about it.
By simply learning how others think and behave, you can
create relationships with key players and get access to
opportunities, resources, love, money and just about
anything else your heart desires.
Half of my life’s mission is to research the most effective
strategies and techniques for effectively influencing
others.
The other half is to distill what I learn into an easy to
understand and apply format.
The single biggest piece of feedback that I get from
customers and clients is that while the techniques I show
them work, many people feel awkward trying to execute
them.
It doesn’t feel natural to them.

They feel like they’re going to make a mistake and
their target is going to catch on.
The same goes for NLP.
You could learn every aspect of NLP there is to know
but if you can’t get comfortable with it, the techniques
are going to be tough to execute.
That’s where this report comes in.
This report is going to cover the foundational concepts
that make everything you learn about NLP actually
“work”.
Once you understand these concepts, the next step is
to put them to work.

Pack.

Ok, let’s get started.
Like any other discipline, neuro-linguistic
programming has its own set of foundational concepts
that must be learned first before you delve into any
NLP techniques.
These foundational concepts are rapport, sensory
awareness, outcome thinking and behavioral flexibility.
Let’s talk about rapport first. If you have ever read a book
on hypnosis or covert influence, you have probably
encountered the idea of establishing rapport with your
subject.
In the context of neuro-linguistic programming, the idea
of rapport is the same: rapport is both a method of
creating and measuring harmony between two or more
parties. I emphasize the word harmony here because many
of the challenges that we face on a daily basis are actually
caused by a lack of harmony or rapport with other people.
Here’s a good example: in one study performed in the
United Kingdom, researchers discovered that 80% of
employee-respondents did not understand or fully
comprehend the instructions given to them by the
management. This communication problem will of course
result in employee problems and productivity problems as
well.

And all of this can happen just because management was
not able to communicate or express itself well to regular
employees. Rapport is essential to personal excellence
because eventually, we would have to disagree with
someone but we still have to preserve our relationship or
association with that person even if we did disagree.

The second pillar of neuro-linguistic programming is

sensory awareness. People often have this deep-seated
trance where they are only able to focus on ‘what needs to
be done’ – to the exclusion of all else.
NLP shatters this trance by teaching people how to accept
different stimuli from the various senses if this will help a
person improve something in himself or in other people.
You might be surprised as to how much information about
yourself (and other people) you can glean by studying how
people process the various stimuli from the environment.
The third foundational concept is outcome thinking.
The problem that many people encounter when they are
trying to solve their personal problems is that they tend to
focus too much on the actual problem than potential
solutions.
Again, NLP breaks this common thinking pattern so that
people would start focusing on the outcomes that they want
so that they can create a path or solution to the desired

outcome. You will focus on what will happen after you
have created the solution – that would make the whole
problem-solving process much easier.
Outcome-based thinking can be used to solve problems
from any part of your life. It doesn’t matter if your biggest
problem is weight loss or if your biggest worry is the
promotion that never came. By using NLP, you will be able
to craft solutions because you have already seen the
specific outcome that you want.

The fourth and final foundational concept is behavior

flexibility and this is what truly separates NLP from all the
other disciplines because it actively advocates changing
oneself so that specific outcomes can finally be achieved.
Unlike other forms of self-learning, NLP is not modest
when it says that a person has to change if what he is
doing right now is not working at all. Learning all of the
theories of neuro-linguistic programming is amazing but
if you do not develop behavioral flexibility, you won’t be
able to apply the things that you will be learning in this
NLP book or in any other NLP reference.
Often, people need fresh points of view or perspectives in
order to change. With neuro- linguistic programming,
exciting new perspectives and thinking patterns can be
used by anyone, immediately. The difficulty associated

with learning new behaviors and thinking patterns
evaporates because a person will use a slightly different
learning route.
The four foundations of neuro-linguistic programming are
by no means new. People have been aware of them before
the proponents of neuro-linguistic programming picked
them up and utilized them for the purpose of teaching
new practitioners how NLP worked.
These four foundational concepts are essential for
handling life’s many challenges. Here’s a good example –
let’s say you bought a new computer and after months of
uninterrupted use, the computer suddenly stopped
working.
You call technical support but they are not very helpful
and your deadlines are coming. You will need the four
foundations of NLP if you want to survive a situation like
this. You will need to establish rapport/harmony if you
want technical support to handle you seriously.
You will also have to use all of your senses to report what
you are actually experiencing when you try to turn on the
computer. Using your senses will also allow you to control
your speech rate and tone of voice, which are both
important for effective communication.
You will also need to focus on a specific desirable
outcome. What do you want to get from contacting

Copyright Influence Mastery Inc. !8

technical support? What will you ask them to do now that
your computer is not working at all?
If you do not succeed the first time that you call technical
support, it would be a good idea to practice behavioral
flexibility so you can think of other ways to remedy the
situation.
When you use NLP to improve yourself, it doesn’t mean
that you are never going to encounter failure. To say that
you will always succeed in what you want to do would be
fallacious because there will be times when even our best
efforts will not yield the desired outcomes that we had in
mind.
But that’s alright because with NLP it is much easier to
plan and implement these new plans. You will never be
stuck in any mental state because you can shift your own
mental state whenever you want.

Start Pack.
