Technology Integration Form – SCREENCASTING

GENERAL INFORMATION
Selected Technology/Resource Name: Age/Grade Level: Technology/Resource Type:
Jing
11 & 12 It is a software type of resource I am assuming. I
mean it does have a website where you go an
download the thing to your computer and then
you use it. So I am guessing it is an application
where you go to the website and then
download the software. I know this sounds like I
am using all these words just to make it seem
like I know what I am doing, but honestly this is
what I feel like it is.

The source is called Jing.

The website is: https://www.techsmith.com/download-jing-win-thankyou.html
Here you go and download it and then it takes you on from there.

Associated Learning Standard(s): The resource may be generally applicable, if so, simply state that. List any ISTE-S standards that
seem to naturally align with the selected resource.

The ISTE Student Standards that go with this resource are:

Empowered Learner:
1C. Because students use technology to seek feedback that informs and improves their practice and to demonstrate their
learning in a variety of ways.
Creative Communicator:
6A. Students choose the appropriate platforms and tools for meeting the desired objectives of their creation or communication.
6B. Students create original works or responsibly repurpose or remix digital resources into new creations.
6C. Students communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively by creating or using a variety of digital objects such
as visualizations, models or simulations.
Global Collaborator:
6D. Students publish or present content that customizes the message and medium for their intended audiences.
7B. Students use collaborative technologies to work with others, including peers, experts or community members,
to examine issues and problems from multiple viewpoints.
7C. Students contribute constructively to project teams, assuming various roles and responsibilities to work effectively toward a
common goal.

RESOURCE DESCRIPTION
Give a brief description of the technology/resource.

So Jing is basically a screen casting tool. When a student wants to show something to their teacher and they want to do it where
they can actually show them while they are not with the, they use this resource tool. Teachers use this a lot when they are giving
online directions to their students. I remember when I had an online English, my teacher used this tool a lot to tell us what we had
to and how to access certain things in black board. Again, Jing is a screen casting tool used to make online work a whole lot easier.

INTEGRATION/IMPLEMENTATION IDEA - SCREENCASTING

How might you use this resource to promote student learning? Describe who will be doing the screencasting – you or your
students, and what purpose it will serve.
To promote student learning, it helps them understand where everything is and how they are supposed to do it. For
example, like I stated before with my online teacher using it, it helped me learn more because I knew how she wanted
everything done and where I was to turn it in. Also, when it came to assignments or essays I liked it better when I
could ear her voice and understand exactly how she wanted things done instead of reading it on the announcements.
Screen casts also work both ways. It is useful for the teacher to show the student as well as for the student. If they
need to show the teacher something but are not face to face with them, then they can make a screencast of what
they want to show them and then send it over to them. It is just so much easier to show a person where to go to do
this or this and how to get this or this. Typing something to a person is helpful as well but screencast is so much better
and not may confusing questions are asked.

VALUE-ADDED EXPLANATION
 Given the information above, how would the technology integration you described, using the selected resource? (On the
“Value-Added Rating Scale” above)
 Explain your rating based on the indicators on the rubric.

I want to give this resource a mix between 1 and 2. It aligns to certain content standards that the teacher needs. It does increase
student engagement but then again I feel like it is a supplement for a lesson. I don’t really see the need to be doing a screencast
during class to be honest really. It is more of a teachers thing to be used by them when they need to tell their students to do
something. But then it is used by the student if they need help or to show the teacher something. It goes both ways and I feel like
this a good rating for it. I just don’t know whether to rate it 1 or 2, so I will keep it in the mix of the two.
