My name is Silvio Noel Gutierrez, and I am a presidential scholarship student. I received
the presidential scholarship because I was the best student of my city and one of the top students of the whole country. When I was in high school, I attended many academic contests that allowed me to develop my skills and to win many awards. In university, I used my knowledge, abilities, and dedication to earn a 3.93 cumulative GPA. I value all the knowledge that I have acquired at Keiser University because it has allowed me to foster my potential while helping my classmates doing their best. As a student, I have learned that success at academic life is not about being the best student; instead, it is about being a vehicle to transmit knowledge and values. During this stage, my most valuable achievements are being a tutor at the Center for the Academic Excellence and being part of the president’s list during most of my career. Working as a CAE tutor boosts my creativity and communication skills because I can explain even the most complicated topics to students. As a student and a CAE tutor, I learned the values of leadership, humility, and solidarity. I believe that we, as excellent students, can inspire others to achieve their goals. Moreover, as part of my work-study hours, I work at the financial aid department where I learned the values of responsibility and teamwork. At this department, I realized the impact that team spirit can create because the financial aid team works to provide solutions to students that want to access to education. In the extracurricular activities, I am part of the household Guardians of the Sacred Heart and Jesus Army, which contribute spirituality to my life. Moreover, as a member the Taekwondo team, I exercised my body and my mind because I learned how to be persistent and how to manage my emotions while working my body. Currently, I am the treasurer of the Business Club, where I have not only learned to control the cash resources but also how to contribute business ideas while creating a positive impact on the country. As a volunteer, I worked as a translator for American physicians that came to Nicaragua to provide medical attention in poor communities. I can tell that this experience changed my life because I realized that we could help our community by doing such little things. Additionally, the experience showed me the value of education, which I believe is the tool to build a better future. Overall, the university experience has made of me an integer individual, who is ready to overcome all the odds and to create a legacy. Finally, I had to describe myself in one word; it would be hardworking because everything I have achieved is a result of sacrifice and dedication.
