1.1 Clarification of notation
Note: This type of paragraph calls readers attention to a notice or related theme.

IMPORTANT: This type of paragraph highlights a procedure, adjustment etc., which can cause a
damage or improper function of the equipment if not performed correctly and may not be clear at
first sight.

Example: This type of paragraph contains information that is used to illustrate how a specific function
works.

1.2 About this guide

This Comparative Guide describes the main differences between the second and the third generation of
InteliLite controllers. The 2nd generation is referred to as InteliLite NT and the 3rd generation is called InteliLite.

Comparative Guide 3
2 Differences
2.1 Dimensions
The 3rd generation of InteliLite controllers is slightly bigger than the InteliLite NT controllers as is shown the
following images:

Image 1.1 Physical dimensions of InteliLite (in millimeters)

Image 1.2 Physical dimensions of InteliLite NT (in millimeters)

Comparative Guide 4
Consequently, the cutout in the 3rd generation is also bigger as shown in following figure:

2.2 Front side layout design

Symbols in blue are hidden. If the controller is off, All symbols are visible
they are not seen. They are shown only when it is
needed to, for example, if gen-set were running, then
the symbol would turn green, if there were a problem
with the gen-set, then it would turn red, etc.

center

2.3 Terminals
The terminals in 3rd generation are not only named (as in InteliLite NT) but also numbered and these numbers
are embossed on the housing. Terminals are grouped by type (generator current, generator voltage, etc.) and the
position of those groups is relatively similar to the 2nd generation. See the tables and picture below.

2.4 Wiring
The only difference in wiring is related to the binary outputs. In the 3rd generation, the actuator has be connected
between the Binary Output terminal and the negative terminal of the battery, whereas in the 2nd generation it
was connected between the Binary Output terminal and the positive terminal of the battery. This is shown in the
following image.

InteliLite InteliLite NT

IMPORTANT: The 3rd generation of InteliLite controllers uses high side binary outputs!

2.5 Binary Output

Whereas each binary output could deliver 500 mA in the 2nd generation, the new generation features two (2)
high current binary outputs (T04 and T05) that can provide 5 A continuously or even 10 A for a short time.

Comparative Guide 7
2.6 USB communication
In order to connect the controller to the PC tool via USB, the 2nd generation required the use of a plug-in module
called IL-NT-S-USB. However, the architecture of the 3rd generation has integrated the USB port on the
controller so that there is no longer the need of a plug-in module.

Back side of InteliLite 3rd generation

IL-NT S-USB plug-in module
(needed for the 2nd generation)

2.7 Plug-in modules

In the 2nd generation of InteliLite controllers, there were two (2) slots for plug-in modules, one for
Communication plug-in modules and the other one for Extension plug-in modules. Communication and
Extension plug-in modules had a different physical type of terminal and therefore a Communication plug-in
module could only be connected to the Communication Module slot. For the 3rd generation, both types of
modules have exactly the same physical terminal and therefore, a slot on the controller can be used for any type
of plug-in module. They are referred to as universal slots.
Note: 2nd generation of InteliLite controllers does not support new modules and 3rd generation does not support
old modules.

The available modules for the 3rd generation are:

CM-RS232-485 - communication module for connection via RS232 or RS485 line
CM-GPRS - communication module for connection via GPRS
CM-Ethernet - communication module for internet connection via Ethernet
CM-4G-GPS - communication module for connection via 4G and for GPS location
EM-BIO8-EFCP - extension module with 8 binary inputs/outputs and with earth fault current protection
The number of universal slots depends on the model as it is shown on the following table:

3rd generation of controller Number of slots Combination

AMF25 2 Arbitrary combination of 2 plug-in modules*
MRS16 2 Arbitrary combination of 2 plug-in modules*
AMF20 1 1 communication or 1 extension module
MRS11 1 1 communication or 1 extension module

Note: * The very same type of communication module cannot be used twice on the controller. Besides, earth
fault current protection is supported only when the EM-BIO8-EFCP is connected to Slot A.

2.8 PC tool
LiteEditt has been totally renovated for the 3rd generation of InteliLite controller. It has a completely new design
and it is even more intuitive than before. The name has remained the same and therefore, according to the
version, the user will know which generation of controller the PC tool can be used with. Please see the following
table for reference:
