To Whom It May Concern

This letter is meant as a notice of culmination for Mr. Justin Ridenour in his achievement of a
successful internship practicum. As such, this letter, for my part, is also meant as a letter of
professional endorsement for Mr. Ridenour. I was pleased and privileged to serve during the
Fall semesters of the 2017-18 academic year as Mr. Ridenour’s university mentor and intern-
ship supervisor. Our student implemented the components of the required practicum experi-
ences as a member of the teaching staff at Potomack Intermediary School of Berkeley County
Public Schools of West Virginia. Frostburg State University offers its sincerest thanks to
‘Potomack’ principal, Ms. Amanda Billmeyer for serving as Mr. Ridenour’s mentor and for
demonstrating the utmost in dedication and guidance to our student.
The internship practicum in Educational Leadership (the internship) is designed to provide the
candidate with authentic, hands-on administrative experience in a field placement setting. The
program secures its authority from the Educational Leadership Constituent Council (ELCC)
standards and elements, the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) and the State of
Maryland’s Department of Education. In addition, this program carries the authority provided
by Frostburg State University, a member of the coalition of institutions under the banner of the
University of Maryland System.
The internship experience, as secured by Mr. Ridenour featured a substantial number of individ-
ual experiences, a wide variety of activities calling upon the student to administer and to react
in the same manner as the accomplished school leader. Again, such effectiveness was
required to be documented at every turn. The entire experience reflects two (2) three- (3) credit
semesters of work. That work was required to include, at minimum, 180 hours of experience
per semester which was to be systematically distributed among the ELCC standards and ele-
ments, each of which are cross-walked to the Maryland Instructional Leadership Frameworks
(MdILFs), the Professional Standards for Educational Leaders (PSELs), and the Interstate
Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (InTASC) standards.
Specifically, Mr. Ridenour provided over 400 hours of documented experience across 25 ELCC
standards-based elements. The documentation formatting requires each student to provide their
own Weebly-platform-crafted website of documentation. Now, long gone are thick paper -filled
binders. This means that at the outset, our successful interns begin with a highly technological-
ly-oriented product, fit for a state of Maryland which demands cutting edge technology demon-
strations among educational staff members.
