Personal Philosophy of Teaching and Learning

Teaching is the most rewarding career in which it serves as lifelong learning and makes a
difference in the lives of students. As a developing teacher, my classroom will provide students
with a positive environment in which to grow mentally and mature emotionally, intellectually,
physically, and socially. My role as the teacher will be to assist each child in developing their
own potential and learning styles. It is important to provide differentiated instruction for every
student, it provides equal opportunities for all students to succeed whether they have a disability
or not. It is also to present a curriculum that will include all learning styles, hands-on learning,
classroom projects, and individual work that will engage and activate students learning.

In a classroom, students take an active role in their learning by recognizing that they are
accountable for their academic success. A student comes to school/class to learn, experience, and
to become socially interactive. In the social development theory, Vygotsky explains “how social
contexts influence the ideas that people develop (Koch, 2016, p. 60). As explained by Vygotsky
that social learning proceeds development, it is very important that students interact with one
another. When students become socially interactive at a young age, it allows them to grow as
learners and become active learners for their future academic success.

As a teacher, creating a classroom that is a safe learning environment, organization,

communication, high energy levels and positive attitude are key elements to a successful learning
environment for all. To deliver instruction for the class, hooking the students into the lesson, by
using multiple intelligence for all students process of information such as musical, visual,
linguistic, logical, etc. can engage students into the lesson. Gardner’s theory of multiple
intelligences explains that people have more than one way of processing information. Gardner
states that “students learn in ways that are identifiably distinctive. The broad spectrum of
students - and perhaps the society as a whole - would be better served if disciplines could be
presented in a numbers of ways and learning could be assessed through a variety of means"
(Lane, 2008). It is important to engage students into the lesson and by using Gardner’s, multiple
intelligence theory, it can help students tremendously. Also, another way to deliver instruction
can be by giving clear concise directions, ask student questions for understanding, using random
selection when asking questions, complimenting positive behavior and hard work will greatly
improve my classroom and my students to succeed.
