prayer.
(prayer)
 Greetings
Good morning, class!
Good morning, ma’am!
Before you take your seats, please
pick up the scattered pieces of trash and
arrange your chairs.
Yes ma’am.
 Checking of Attendance
Who is absent for today?
None, ma’am.
Very good, class!

B. Review
Last meeting, you’ve learned about
graphs of system of linear equations in two
variables.
What are again the different types
of graphs of system of linear equations in
two variables?
Intersecting, Parallel, Coinciding
Very good!
Who would like to write the slopes
and y-intercepts of the following systems
of linear equations?
𝑦 = 2𝑥 − 1
1. {
𝑦 = −2𝑥 + 3
𝑦 = 2𝑥 − 1
2. {
𝑦 = 2𝑥 + 3
𝑦 = 2𝑥 − 1
3. {
2𝑦 = 4𝑥 − 2

1. m=2 b = -1
m = -2 b=3
2. m=2 b = -1
m=2 b=3
3. m=2 b = -1
m=2 b = -1
You’re doing great!
How about the graphs of the three
systems of linear equations?

1.

2.

3.

Amazing!
What type of graph does the first
system of linear equations represent?
Intersecting, ma’am.
Excellent!
What about the second set?
Parallel, ma’am.
Very good!
What about the third system of
linear equations?
Coinciding, ma’am.
Very good!
Do you have any question about our
last topic?
None, ma’am.
Congratulations! It seemed that you
really understood our last lesson.

C. Motivation
Before we begin with the
discussion, let us first have an activity. This
activity is entitled, “Is It The Same?”
I will divide you into 7 groups.
Leaders, please get your materials in front.
What you have are word sticks. I
will flash different sets of systems of linear
equations.
What you are going to do is to
identify the slopes and y-intercepts. If the
system of linear equations I’m going to
show has the same slope, raise the word
stick with slope m written on it. Raise y-
intercept b if it has the same y- intercept.
Raise both word sticks if it has the same
slope and y-intercept.
Do you understand, class?
Yes, ma’am.
The group who will raise the
correct answer first gets 2 points. The other
groups will get a point as long as they got
the correct answer.
Do you have any questions, class?
None, ma’am.
Very good!
Are you ready?
Yes, ma’am.
Let us start.
(activity)
Congratulations to the winning
group! Let us give them 10 claps. To the
other groups, give yourselves 5 claps.
You all did a great job!
Are you ready for our discussion?
Yes, ma’am.
Excellent! Let’s move on.

D. Presentation
Our topic for today still has
something to do with the types of graphs of
system of linear equations in two variables.
But this time, you will learn how to
identify the type of graph of a given system
of linear equations in two variables just by
looking at the slopes and y-intercepts.
Just like in your activity, you will
identify if a given system of linear
equations has the same or different slopes
and y-intercepts.

E. Lesson Proper
Going back with our graphs a while
back, observe the pairs of slopes and y-
intercepts.
Which systems of linear equations
have the same slopes?
The second and third graphs.
Brilliant!
Which systems of linear equations
have the same y-intercepts?
Only the third graph, ma’am.
Excellent!
Based from the slopes and y-
intercepts, what are your conclusions?
The first system of linear equations with
an intersecting graph has different slopes and
y-intercepts.
Brilliant!
What else?
The graph with parallel lines has the
same slopes but different y-intercepts.
Definitely!
What are your other conclusions?
If the system of linear equations has the
same slopes and y-intercepts, then the lines are
coinciding.
Exactly!
Any other conclusion?
None, ma’am.
Very good!
Let us have another set of systems
of linear equations in two variables to see if
our conclusions are correct.
May I have three volunteers to
write the slopes and y – intercepts of the
following systems of linear equations?
1. 2y = 2x + 4
y = -2x – 1
2. y = 2x – 4
y = 2x +2
3. 3y = -3x + 12
y = -x + 4
1. m=1 b=2
m = -2 b = -1
2. m=2 b = -4
m=2 b=2
3. m = -1 b=4
m = -1 b=4
Excellent!
Who would like to draw the graph
of each system of linear equations?
1.

2.

3.

Brilliant!
Let us see if our conclusions are
correct.
Which among the three graphs have
intersecting lines?
The first graph, ma’am.
Very good!
Does it have different slopes and y-
intercepts?
Yes, ma’am.
Excellent!
Does the graph with parallel lines
have the same slopes but different y –
intercepts?
Yes, ma’am.
Very good!
What can you say about the third
graph?
The graph is coinciding and it has the
same slopes and the same y-intercepts.
Amazing!
Are all our conclusions correct?
Yes, ma’am.
Excellent! You all did a great job!
Let us try to determine the type of
graph of the following systems of linear
equations in two variables:
1. y = -x + 3
3y = -3x + 9
2. y = 2/3 x – 2
y = 2/3 x – 2/9
3. y = 1/3 x + 1
y = -2/3 x + 4
1. coinciding
2. parallel
3. intersecting
Brilliant!
Do you have any questions?
None, ma’am.
Very good!
What is easier: graphing first the
systems of linear equations or just by
looking at the slopes and y-intercepts you
can determine the type of graph?
Looking at the slopes and y-intercepts.
I agree. But we should keep in mind
the sets of slopes and y-intercepts that
should be the same or different. Also, we
should still master graphing systems of
linear equations.
F. Generalization
What are again the three different
types of graphs of systems of linear
equations in two variables?
Intersecting, parallel, and coinciding.
Excellent!
I need 9 volunteers to complete the
table posted on the board.

G. Value Integration
The three types of graphs of system
of linear equations in two variables include
intersecting, parallel, and coinciding. The
lines may either intersect at one point, do
not intersect at all, or coincides.
Just like in life, there are those
people whom we met or will meet once.
There are also those people whom we
never met or will never meet at all. And of
course, there are those people who will
always be with us no matter what.
Among those people around you,
may it be your friends, your colleagues, or
your family, who do you consider as the
line that coincides in your life?
I consider my family as the people who
will always be with me no matter what
happens. They are the reason why I am here. I
am very thankful; to have them in my life.
Well said!
How about the relationship between
the graphs and the slopes and y-intercepts?
For example, the graph with an
intersecting line doesn’t have the same
slopes and the same y-intercepts. We may
meet a person once but it doesn’t mean that
we have something in common.
How about the other types of
graphs?
We may never meet a person but still,
we have something in common.
Excellent!
What else?
We have many things in common with
those whom we consider as part of our life.
Brilliant!

H. Fixing Skills
Let us first have another activity
before you have your quiz.
For this activity, you will work
individually. The name of this activity is
BINGO!
I’m going to distribute a 3 by 3
bingo card. This is not your ordinary bingo
card. The first column corresponds to the
slope m. The second column corresponds
to the y-intercept b and the third column
corresponds to the type of graph.
I have here different sets of systems
of linear equations. I will draw one card
and I will show it to you.
What you are going to do is to
identify the slopes, y-intercepts, and the
type of graph of the system of linear
equations.
For example, y = 2x+1 and y = x–1.
The slopes are 2 and 1. Mark the
numbers 2 and 1 on the column of the slope
m. On my card, I have the slope 2 but not
1. So, I will only mark 2.
m b G
-1 -2 Intersecting
2 -1 Parallel
3 1 Coinciding
The y-intercepts of the system of
linear equations are 1 and -1. I will mark 1
and -1 on the column of y-intercept b. The
graph is intersecting. I will also mark the
word intersecting on the column of graph
G.
m b G
-1 -2 Intersecting
2 -1 Parallel
3 1 Coinciding
You will only win if, like the
ordinary bingo card, you have marked 3
grids horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
You just have to raise your hand to
indicate that you completed a pattern.
Do you understand, class?
Yes, ma’am.
Very good!
Are you ready?
Yes, ma’am.
Let us start.
(activity)
Congratulations to those who won.
You will be given additional 5 points on
your quiz.
IV. EVALUATION
On a one-fourth sheet of paper,
determine whether the graph of each
system of linear equations in two variables
is INTERSECTING, PARALLEL, or
COINCIDING. Write your answers only.
1. y = 2x – 4
y = 2x + 2 1. parallel
2. y = x + 5
y = 2x – 3 2. intersecting
3. 2y = -2x + 6
y = -x + 3 3. coinciding
4. y = x – 4
y = 1/3 x + 5 4. intersecting
5. y = -3x + 3
y = -3x – 1 5. parallel
V. ASSIGNMENT
On a one-fourth sheet of paper, find
an equation whose graph intersects,
coincides and is parallel to the graph of
each given equation.
1. 2x + 4y = 2
2. x – 2y = -1
3. 3x + y = 4
4. y = 2x – 3
5. y = x - 4
