Rules & Regulation

A. Definition of a match

A match involves two contestants (one operator per robot can be registered, but may be
assisted by their mechanic/team) who starts the robot that they have made themselves in the
Ring according to the Game Rules.

The contest continues until a robot fall out of the Ring or the match time limit is reached. The
decision on match end will be made by the referee.

B. Ring Interior

 The Ring interior is a circle Plywood plate with a minimum height of 2.5 cm and a
diameter of 100cm including the border line (refer to appendix A). The surface of the
Ring will be a smooth matte black painted finish.
 The border line is indicated as a white circle with a width of 3cm. "On the border" is
defined as being within the interior of the Ring.
 The starting point are indicated with small black dot on an inner circle lines centered in
the Ring with a width of 1 cm with a diameter of 30 cm. The inner circle will be painted
dark gray.
 During the games, it is up to the referee to decide whether the Ring can continue to be
used or whether it should be changed when a scratch or tear appears on the Ring
surface.

C. Ring Exterior

The exterior area of a Ring extends at least 50 cm from the borderline. The color of the exterior
is similar to interior smooth matt black painted.

D. Specifications of the robot

 The robot (when all parts are fully extended) must be able to fit in a box with a width and
depth of 15cm x 15cm x 15cm (W x L x H).
 Weight (including accessories) must not exceed 1000g.
 The robot must be self-operated (autonomous) with a start button. Autonomous robot
operation must begin automatically no less than five seconds after start button is
pressed.
 There are no restrictions on the microprocessor used for the robot.

E. Restrictions on robot design

 The robot must not be equipped with a device that obstructs the opponent's operation,
such as a jammer or strobe light.
 The robot must not be equipped with any parts that might damage or deface the Ring.
 The robot must not be equipped with device that blows liquid, powder or gas.
 The robot must not be equipped with detachable parts or a firing or throwing device.

Internal
 The robot must not be equipped with any part that fixes the robot to the Ring surface and
increases the apparent weight of the robot (such as suckers, glue, vacuums, fans, and
so on).
 The robot must not cause danger to the referee, operators and audiences.

F. Game principles

 A game consists of three matches of one minutes each. There will be no break in
between matches.
 The first contestant to win two matches is the winner of the game.
 The contestant with the most match win out of the three matches is the winner of the
game.
 In the event of a tie after the third match, the lighter robot will be declared as the winner.

G. Beginning of a match
 The contestants enter the Ring area, following the chief referee's instructions, to place
their robots centered behind their starting point (black dot on inner ring).
 At the referee's signal of match start, the operator must pressed a start button of their
robot. After a five second pause the robots may start moving. During these five seconds,
players must clear out of the ring area.

H. End of a match

The match ends when the referee calls the winner or the match time limit is reached.

I. Match canceling and rematches

 A match will be canceled for rematch under the following conditions:


 Both robots touch the exterior of the Ring at the same time.
 Violations occurred.
 Any other conditions under which the referee judges that no winner can be decided.
 In case of a rematch, maintenance of competing robots are prohibited and the robots
must immediately be put back to the starting location.

J. Winning a match

 A robot which manage to push its opponent out of the Ring with a fair action is declared
the match winner.
 A robot is declared a match winner if the opponent's robot steps out of Ring on its own
(for any reason).
 A robot is declared a match winner if the opponent is disqualified or has had more than
one violation.
 The match is considered a tie if both robots manage to stay in the Ring when the match
timer ends.

K. Violations

Internal
 The operator or a part of the operator enters the Ring before the referee's call ends the
match.
 The robot begins action before the referee's start signal or before the five second mark.
 Any other actions that may be deemed unfair by the referee.
 Warning will be given for the first violation. Second violation will result in disqualification.

L. Disqualification

 A contestant is not ready for a match (more than 5 minutes) when called at the
beginning of the game.
 A contestant ruins the game. For example, by intentionally breaking, damaging or
defacing the Ring.
 A contestant's robot does not meet the "Specifications of the robot" and "Restrictions on
robot design".
 A contestant displays unsportsmanlike behavior. For example, using violent language or
slandering, or injures an opponent or a referee.

M. Objections

 A contestant who has an objection must express dissent to the secretariat before the
end of the game.
 No objections to the judgment of the referee will be entertained.

N. Specifications of robot tagging

Some identifying name or number (as registered in the contest) must be easily readable on the
robot's body while the robot is in competition.
