Philosophy A solid educational foundation is important for individual success and making a
meaningful contribution to the community. Through the study of history and the American
political system, students will be better prepared to take on these civic responsibilities of
American society as they transition out of high school. By ensuring their success through
education, we are preparing them for their future.
Teaching Rochester Adams High School, Rochester Hills, MI September 2017 – April 2018
Experience Secondary Teacher Education Program, Student Teacher Internship, 9th grade Big
History, 10th grade US History, and 11th/12th grade Current Issues elective
Learned and implemented on a daily basis district software like Synergy, Illuminate,
and Moodle. Coordinated with Media Specialist for use of technology resources.
Instructional focus on student learning through High Leverage Teaching Practices,
Backward Design, and regular reflection on instructional approaches. Adherence to
the Danielson Model to analyze instructional efforts in the classroom using video
record.
Assisted Mentor Teacher in planning, organizing, and implementing the Current
Issues curriculum during the Fall 2017 semester. Assumed all planning,
implementation, instructional, and assessment responsibilities of Big History, US
History, and Current Issues during the Winter 2018 semester.
United States Army, Michigan Army National Guard May 2006 – May 2013
Infantryman, Team Leader
Completed Basic Training and Airborne School
Combat Life Saver qualified. Completed a 40-hour course that covered basic first aid
and battlefield trauma care in 2008. Completed two refresher courses in 2010 and 2011
Awarded Army Achievement Medal for 2nd place finish in a platoon-level mock promotion
board testing knowledge of soldier tasks.
Acted as platoon expert on US Army machine gun weapon systems that included
leading informal blocks of instruction for soldiers in the platoon. These included a lecture
on concepts and implementation followed by supervising hands on familiarization and
training scenarios.
Served as a Team Leader responsible for a machine gun crew. A crew consists of 3
soldiers including the team leader, a machine gun, and associated equipment.
Responsibilities included supervising, training, and developing the team’s operational
capabilities by demonstrating technical proficiency and setting team standards. Assisted
in the development of platoon standard operating procedure for implementing a crew-
served machine gun in support of platoon and company operations.
Awards include Army Commendation Medal, three Army Achievement Medals, Army
Good Conduct Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, and Afghanistan Campaign Medal
