La leyenda de Cacheuta

Atahualpa, lord of the Incas and descendant of INTI

was captured by the white people. He sent his
emissaries to ask for help to the nearest villages.

A Chasqui spread the news in the land of Cacheuta, a

puissant chief. The Chasqui said: “ Cacheuta, we
need your help. Atahulapa, lord of the quechuas has
been taken prisoner and only a large fortune can help
him to recover his freedom.

The chief did everything he could to collaborate with

the rescue. After a while, the people from Cacheuta
collected big leathers bags with precious stones and
valuable objects which would be sent towards the
North, to the city of Cajamarca where Atahualpa was
in prison.

Cacheuta began the expedition but the paths were not safe and the llamas trudged
because of the heavy bags they carried. After long hours of travelling, they crossed the
paths of macizo andino hill.

Once they crossed the hill, the Cacique observed a group of men who were near the
mountains. He ordered his people to hide all the gold. The people hid the gold and
Cacheuta ordered them to be ready to fight.

The struggle between men began and as a result Cacheuta and his people died.

The men started to look for the things that were inside the bag but they discovered that they
were empty. The Men kept on looking for gold or silver and they finally found gold hidden
in the mountains.
Once they had it in their hands, they began to celebrate but they did not expected that the
gold turned into hot water jets that fell on them until it killed them all.

It is said that the spirit of Cacheuta, helped by Inti, a God, turned gold into a kind of liquid
that still sprays in form of hot water jets from the mountains and it is more valuable than
any other fortune because it cures many diseases.
