The Rodriguez Academy August 12, 2026 Dear Parents or Guardians, I give you a warm welcome to our 2026-2027 school year in The Rodriguez Academy. We are excited to have you back to school, and we hope you had a great summer with your child. My name is Ms. Anna Rodriguez, I’ll be teaching 10th grade English Literature, and I have been teaching this subject for four years in this school. In this 10th grade English Literature class, students are expected to be respectful to their peers and to be tolerant to apply critical thinking and communication skills by reading poetry, short stories, and dramas. Students are also to recognize the importance of literary text and meaning by employing reflective writing from the assigned readings. Since writing is considered to be a process that includes the generation of ideas, reading daily for my class is vital for the students’ achievement. In my course content we will address: 1. Introduction—Definition of Literature and Literary Genre 2. Short Story—Definition of a Short Story, Identifying Elements of a Short Story (Plot, Characters, Point of View, Theme, Setting, Symbolism and Allegory) 3. Poetry—Definition of Poetry, Interpreting Poetry, and Paraphrasing poems 4. Drama—Definition of Drama, Type of Drama (tragedy, comedy, modern) and Interpreting drama. 5. Writing about Literature—Reflective Writing, Writing about Issues Raised in Literary Work By the end of the school year, students will possess a proper understanding of the literary world and will recognize the importance of literature through their point of view and through the views of society. I look forward to sharing more about the English literature curriculum and the academic goals for the class upon request. Thank you for your support in your child’s success, and I hope this year is filled with academic achievements for you and your child. Please if you have any doubts or concerns, do not wait for formal conferences to discuss your questions. You can email me at asrodrig@ncsu.edu or call me on my cell-phone (787) 675-XXXX. I look forward to frequent communication with you as we work together to ensure your child’s success!
