The Assessment Procedure for Applications

Your application will be assessed by a selection panel based on academic merit, creative excellence
and the ability to show leadership qualities.

The selection panel will make their final selections by marking the quality of the application,
preparedness for high quality study in the discipline area, and the articulation of how The Fung
Scholarship will contribute to the applicant’s studies.

Shortlisted students who are unsuccessful will be offered the opportunity to apply directly through
the Study Abroad Programme.

The selection panel’s decision is final and no correspondence whatsoever will be considered once
the decision has been made.

Terms of The Fung Scholarship

The Scholarship will cover full tuition fees for two terms and also provide a contribution towards
course costs and living expenses.

Tuition fees will be paid directly from the award to the University’s tuition fees account.

Course costs and living expenses will be paid via BACS to the student’s bank account.

Applicants must enroll on the course in the same academic year for which they have applied for
funding. If any applicant is unable to do this for any reason, the Scholarship will be withdrawn.

Fung Scholars are required to engage with the University’s Fung Scholars welcome event, complete
feedback questionnaires and provide images of their work for the purposes of reporting progress to
the Victor and William Fung Foundation. Additionally they may be expected to attend a small number
of College and University events promoting scholarship support to potential donors, and to meet with
scholarship supporters at these events, during and wherever convenient after completing their
course.

Award recipients cannot be in receipt of more than one UAL affiliated or administered award.
Applicants can apply for more than one award but if offered more than one UAL affiliated or
administered award, the award recipient will need to choose which award to receive.

The Fung Scholarships recipients are expected to attend all timetabled classes and tutorials,
excepting periods of absence due to illness. Attendance will be monitored, and any student with an
unacceptable attendance record may risk the termination of their award.

The award will be terminated if registration/enrollment lapses on any grounds, other than temporary
suspension of study due to extenuating circumstances, which must be drawn to the attention of the
relevant Course Director at the College through formal procedures and upheld by the College’s
Extenuating Circumstances Panel.

This award is purely discretionary, and therefore no applicant for the award should make any
decisions with respect to their enrolment, financial arrangements etc. relying on the outcome of their
application for such an award until the winner is formally notified.
