Cultural Belonging
Ethnic and Cultural Background:
Most
My family is from San Juanito De Escobedo Jalisco, Mexico. It's a small town next to popular
Guadalajara, Mexico, where I was born. Templo de la Virgen del Pueblito is very church in the
town. It is
important for the town, around this area is where most events take place. There is located right
Folklorico, mariachi and any festivities like weddings occur. at the center
of the town.

When we lived in Mexico, my

family attended the church
constantly. My mom and dad
were married there and
included both my siblings and
my baptism.
Ethnic and Cultural Background :
Language
 I attended school in Mexico up to the second grade.
 I can speak and write fluently both in Spanish and English

During my education in Mexico I liked school and I had the honors to conduct the
national anthem, or El Himno Nacional De Mexico for about two years.
If you have a Mexican mom or have ever been around them you learn to pick up on
the non verbal communications. The stare, meaning pay attention or what are you
doing.

Most mornings I would

lead everyone in the
anthem, carrying the
flag, that’s me.

There were also traditions, where we

would dress like our ancestors and
celebrate during the holidays.
Life Experiences
 Moving from Mexico to United States definitely had a great impact in my live. At
first it was very hard to adjust to a new life, people, culture, and the language but if
my family had not moved to Las Vegas my life would be completely different. A lot
of people my age back in Mexico have very few opportunities to attend school and
better their lives.
 I struggled to learn about a new place but the hardships my parents endured makes
me want to succeed. Due to the era in which I was born in, there are a lot of
opportunities to be successful like the internet, better schools, and all the programs
that help people in need.
 The opportunities that been have created for me are too important to pass up.
There is so much more that we can accomplish in our time because of the
technology we have like computers and cellphones that connect us all over the
world.
My moms family when she
was born. They did not have
enough money for her to
continue school after the 7th
grade .

Values and standards:
There is a very good quote that I had once read and it has stayed with me as I started
my education process towards becoming a teacher and it says as follows…
“The rules we live by guide all our decisions. They don't give us concrete
answers as to how we should behave and manage in a particular
situation, but steer us so we can make a good assessment. In a world
where everything is moving increasingly faster, good judgement,
intuition and basic reaction are essential”.
The quote above is something I think is very true everyone has their own thoughts
and beliefs and we cannot control how someone will act or say. We cannot get
overwhelmed by the world full of people with different views. Being respectful,
honest, open, and having courage will help you in life.
