-Continue to use reflection as a strategy to improve my I believe that reflection is one of the most important
teaching practice. aspects to teaching. Reflecting on my strengths and
weaknesses during my first 4 years of teaching has been
imperative. By daily reflecting on my teaching methods,
differentiating skills, student relationships etc. I am able
to evaluate what components are working and what are
not. During the initial stages of my teaching career,
seeking guidance from more experienced educators as
well as my students has helped me to reflect on my own
teaching methods and make necessary changes.
Reflecting will be a strategy that I will use daily
throughout my career as a professional educator.
-Collaborative effectively with peers to further curriculum Beginning my career at a school transitioning into an IB
development. World School has allowed me to take part in developing
a curriculum which aligns with both IB standards as well
as New Brunswick’s. During this process collaborating
effectively in a vertical team was very important to
insure that students were being taught the material
necessary to be successful in the DP. Next year the
Science department will undergo a major change as all of
the staff members (except myself) will be moving to
different schools. During this phase it will be very
important to collaborate daily with my new team to help
them transition into their new roles and help them feel
comfortable. I look forward to discussing possible new
curriculum ideas with them.
-Develop contextual inquiry based lesson plans centered As I now feel comfortable with the material I am
around technology. teaching, my biggest personal goal is to not allow my
teaching methods to become stale. I firmly believe that
students are more likely to engage in learning when they
can make connections to the real world. Although I have
