Dear Friends at Hill,

I want to give you an update on the search process in the work of the Pastor
Nominating Committee. To date, they have received over 300 dossiers for
review. Currently, they are interviewing some of the ones they think are good
prospects (week of 4/9). They are also listening to or reading sermons from
these candidates, as well as checking on references.

When the committee finally makes its decision, and the candidate responds
positively, they will submit that name to the Committee on Ministry of Beaver-
Butler Presbytery. With the approval from that committee, a date for the
prospect to preach on a Sunday morning, after which there will be a
congregational meeting where the people will vote yes or no. If the vote is
favorable, that report is sent to the Presbytery, and the candidate will be invited
to a Presbytery meeting for a public interview and vote on the person and
approval of the terms of call, salary, etc.

A starting date will be set and the new pastor will begin. An official worship
service of installation will be held, usually sometime within the first two
months.

In the meantime, please continue not only the Covenant Prayer Day each
Tuesday, as well as daily prayer: Please pray for the Committee, the
prospective people being interviewed, for the patience, insight, and the
discernment of the Holy Spirit. I am available to answer any other questions
you may have.

Finally, may God bless all of us with the patience, presence, insight, and
discernment of the Holy Spirit, so that ultimately God’s will may be done - all
to His glory.

Sincerely,

Bill Jackson

On Wednesday April 11, the Community dinner volunteers served a hearty

meal to 79 guests. The menu was meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy,
corn, rolls and butter, applesauce, and butterscotch pudding. There was
plenty of food for seconds, and no one went away hungry! For information

Another Winter-Spring session of Wednesdays on the Hill is in the books. We wrapped up on April 18th by reminding
each other about the great Bible stories we learned and thanking our awesome volunteers. Each week about thirty kids
and young people gathered to grow in their faith. We loved getting to know Pastor Bill and singing to his ukulele. We
learned strange Bible truths – like finding out no one in Jesus’ time ate shrimp or bacon. What?!?! Great food and
recreation kept everyone coming back. But best of all were the amazing things we learned about how Jesus died on the
cross and was raised to life on Easter. We also love sharing the highs and lows of our week with our grown ups. These
are the best grown ups in Butler. The mission project wrapped up with 12 full school bags for Puerto Rico. A big thanks
to all!

The Tuesday Bible Study for Women has been so intent on the Gospel of Mark that sometimes John has to shut the lights
off in the lounge to get them to go home. They are halfway through the gospel but still welcome new members to the group.
The study goes through May and then field trips are in the planning stages for this summer.
May 13th and 20th are the dates set for our “Layette Sundays”. We will have our little crib near the Deacons’
table in the overflow room ready for your new or gently used clothing for babies and children 2 and under.
Each year we receive lovely hand knit sweaters, caps, booties, blankets, etc. Also beautiful baby quilts plus so
many little outfits folks have taken time to purchase. We appreciate each gift you bring and for all your work
in making them.
The 67th Annual National Day of Prayer
