The student will be able to write the numbers as a decimals and fractions.
The student will be able to add the decimals number together.

Fractions Part of a whole.

Decimal point A point or dot used to separate the whole


number part from the fractional part of a
number.

Add To bring two or more numbers together to


make a new total.

Students’ Prior Knowledge:


The students know how to add the numbers together.
Some students know how to write the fractions.
Possible Problems and Misconceptions:
- The teacher doesn’t have ability to manage the class.
- Some students don't bring their pencils.

Solutions:
- Teacher should use a special method to manage the class.
- I will bring extra pencils for the students.

Good morning grade 4, How are you, Today I have many interesting activities and I hope you pay
attention with me and if you have any question you may raise your hand. Do you know what the name of
our lesson today? It's called Add decimal numbers.

Student communication and use of math language


Hi Ms. Amal, Iam fine thank you. How are you Ms. Amal, We are excited to work on the activity and we
will pay attention and we will raise our hands if we have any question. Yes, maybe it's about the decimals
and fractions.

Engage (warm up, review prior knowledge): time:

- I will give each group one paper include the story, and the story about:

"Noura went with her father to the river and there are found a little girl crying when
she asked her why she cried she said she forgot her box on the other side of the river
and she wanted to reach it and she told for Noura there are three keys to reach the 10
other side of the river, when i found the answers of the key i can get my box, so let us Minutes
help the Noura and Maryam to get to the box".

I will bring for the students the real box, when the students answer all the
questions on the key they can open the box, and then they will find small paper
that shows the name of the new lesson. ( 5 Minutes )

- After that I will write the topic of the new lesson on the board. ( 5 Minutes)

Core (introduce and practice new concepts & procedures):

- Today we are learn how to add the decimals number, I will write two questions
on the board then I will explain the steps for the students to know how to add
the decimal number together, then I will write one question on the board and
let the group to work together to write the answer on the small board that they
have on that tables to make sure if they understand the concepts or not.

- After that I will give each group one paper of the sales and I will say for the Minutes
students imagine that you will go to buy some foods or vegetables how can you
will add the decimals number together, then they will choose two thing to add
the decimals number and each group say what they choose and how they get
the answer. (10 Minutes)

- The third activities I will give each group one worksheet include word problems
about the decimal numbers and each group should write the answer on the
worksheet. After that we will discuss about the answers. (5 Minutes)
Close (wrap up, discussion, brief review activity or assessment):

- I have three different colors of the worksheets and each color of the paper have
different questions, and the colors are the red for the high level, yellow for the
low level, the green for the middle level. ( 5 Minutes ) 10

- I will give the students the paper with their levels, they should to answer
individually to make sure and check if they are understanding the lesson or not.
