Spring 2018
SPED 480
ARD (Admission, Review, Dismissal)

1. Who attended the ARD and what is each member’s purpose at the ARD?
2. Who appeared to be the ARD facilitator or coordinator?
3. What was the purpose of the ARD (Admission,Review, or Dismissal)?
4. What kind of information (assessment, instructional, behavioral, etc.) was shared by each
committee member?
5. Particularly, what appeared to be the general educator’s role and responsibility as a
committee member?
6. How were educational goals and objectives determined? How were accommodations and
modifications determined?
7. How did the committee arrive at decisions concerning the student’s least restrictive
environment (LRE)?
8. As a general educator, what would you need to do to prepare to participate in an ARD
meeting? What do you feel is necessary for you to be the most effective ARD team
member possible?

1. One general education teacher (maybe 2 if departmentalized), parent/parents, Assistant Principal, case
worker (Region 10 vision specialist), Educational Diagnostician.

2. Educational diagnostician and Assistant Principal

3. The purpose of the meeting is to create an IEP that is educationally appropriate for your child. The
ARD team should have a written agenda to follow.

4. Annual Report to ARD was reviewed along with recommendations by diagnostician, asst principal, and
Region 10 specialist. Asst. principal wants to keep in general ed class as much as possible. Mostly
educational goals, very little behavioral issues were addressed. Region 10 specialist gave more detailed
analysis.

5. Input on Annual Report to ARD. General educators role was to share how the student was doing in the
classroom and recommend anything he/she thinks the student may need. Both Math, ELAR, and SPED
teachers were present.

6. Case worker/Sped teacher determines the goals for the student. The general ed teacher can give input
if he/she agrees or disagrees or thinks they need to be changed. Accommodations and modifications
were determined based on the student’s needs. Most educational goals and objectives were offered by
Region 10 and SPED teacher.

7. Based on the progress or digression of the student and their needs.

8. Work of the student, progress, or lack of progress. Very important for the teacher to know a
student’s IEP. Important to keep data on the student to show at the meeting.
