Application form
Please complete the form as fully and as clearly as possible. Send the original completed form by post (or by hand), together with
the correct application fee, to arrive by the deadline given in the table below:
Application fee
The application fee is generally non-refundable.
The Academy will accept the following methods of payment:
Credit/Debit Card (please use our payment form), UK Cheque (UK Pounds Sterling, drawn on a UK bank, made payable to
Royal Academy of Music), UK Postal Order, Money Transfer (bank details are given below; you should include your own name
as the reference).
Please do not send cash in the post.
Applications received without the correct application fee (or proof of payment, for example a copy of the money transfer form)
will not be processed. We can only accept payment in UK Pounds Sterling (GBP).
Acknowledgement
Receipt of applications will only be acknowledged if you enclose a reply postcard with your name and address written on it, or a
self-addressed envelope.
We recommend that you use Special Delivery postage or a courier to send your application, so you can track delivery.

4. Other Information
English Language Qualification
If English is not your first language, please include any recent IELTS/Pearson Academic test result. If your English Language
skills have not been examined please indicate your level of spoken and written English by ticking the appropriate boxes. If
you are successful at audition, you may be required to take an IELTS or Pearson Academic test by 1 May 2016. Language
tests should be booked as early as possible because there is considerable demand.

9. Financial Status
This section is compulsory and should give full details of how you propose to pay your tuition fees and living expenses for the total
duration of your programme of study. If you are called for interview, you will be able to discuss these details with the panel.

As a brief guide, you will be eligible to pay UK/EU fees if you fall into one of the following categories:
UK Fees
1 You have 'settled' status in the UK on 1 September 2016, meaning that you are a British Citizen or have been granted leave
to enter or remain in the UK for an indefinite period or you have a certificate of right of abode AND
2 on 1 September 2016 you have been ordinarily resident in the UK for a minimum of three years (temporary absence does not
affect this) AND
3 your main purpose for being in the UK at any point over that three years was not full-time education.
EU Fees
1 On 1 September 2016 there is an EU national in your family, this person must be you or a closely-related family member:
• your spouse or civil partner;
• your parent, grandparent etc or their spouse or civil partner (if you are under 21 years old or still dependent
upon this person);
• your child/step-child/adopted child/direct descendant or their spouse or civil partner (if you are dependent on
this person) AND
2 on 1 September 2016 you have been ordinarily resident in the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland (or, if you
are an EU national, in the relevant overseas territories: see www.ram.ac.uk/study) for a minimum of three years (temporary
absence does not affect this) AND
3 your main purpose for being in the EEA or Switzerland (or, if you are an EU national, in the relevant overseas territories) at
any point over that three years was not full-time education.
Other Categories
You may also be eligible for UK/EU fee status if, on 1 September 2016, you fall into one of the following categories:
• you are an EU national ordinarily resident in the UK and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for a minimum of three
years, and were ordinarily resident in the EEA or Switzerland or relevant overseas territories immediately before this
three year period
• you are a Swiss or an EEA national migrant worker or self-employed person ordinarily resident the UK or a relevant
family member (see above) of such a person, and have been ordinarily resident in the EEA or Switzerland for a minimum
of three years
• you are the child of a Swiss national, are ordinarily resident in the UK and you have been ordinarily resident in the EEA
or Switzerland for a minimum of three years
• you have been recognised as a refugee by the UK government and have remained ordinarily resident in the UK since
then, or you have exceptional leave to enter or remain in the UK following the refusal of an asylum application, or are the
spouse, civil partner or child/step-child/adopted child of such a person
• you are a direct ascendant of, and dependent on, a self-sufficient EU national or their spouse/civil partner and have been
ordinarily resident in the EEA or Switzerland for a minimum of three years
• you are the child of a Turkish national who is resident in the UK and who is or has been lawfully employed in the UK and
you have been ordinarily resident in the EEA or Switzerland or Turkey for a minimum of three years
USA Citizens
The Academy is a designated eligible institution for degree students who are American citizens to apply for DIrect Loan
support (see www.fafsa.ed.gov) or for deferment of payment on an existing loan account.
