1. INTRODUCTION
Qatar Petroleum (QP) has appointed ILF Consulting Engineers to perform FEED for
Replacement of 12” Raw NGL Pipeline from Fahahil Stripping Plant (FSP) to Mesaieed NGL-1
Plant. ILF Consulting Engineers, Abu Dhabi (CONSULTANT) is providing Engineering
services to Qatar Petroleum, as laid down under the Scope of Services as per Contract.

2. SCOPE
This Specification establishes the minimum requirements for the manufacture and supply of
Spiral Wound Metallic Gaskets and Non-Metallic Gaskets to be used in Piping /Pipeline
systems and for connections of piping to equipment to be used at various locations along the
proposed piping and pipeline route for New 12” Raw NGL Pipeline from Fahahil Stripping Plant
(FSP) to Mesaieed NGL-1 Plant for Qatar Petroleum (QP).

This specification shall be read in conjunction with the conditions of all specifications
and documents included to perform FEED for Replacement of 12” Raw NGL Transmission
Pipeline from FSP to Mesaieed NGL-1 Plant Project.

3.3 PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS

3.4 ORDER OF PRECEDENCE

Where conflict exists between the requirements of this Specification and the referenced
Codes, Standards and Specifications, the following order of precedence shall be applicable:

a) Qatar Statutory Regulations

b) This Specification

c) Project Specifications

d) QP Standards/Specifications

e) QP-Recognized International Codes and Standards

4. MATERIAL
Material used for the manufacture of metallic gaskets shall be suitable for Raw NGL –
sour service condition. All metallic material shall meet the requirement of NACE MR0175/ISO
15156 and QP-STD-R-001.

The gasket material shall be in compliance with relevant pipe classes as defined in “Piping
Material Specification”, Doc. No. 3283-DGEN-5-14-0017.

5. DESIGN
Gasket sizes through 24” NPS shall fit between flanges dimensional to ASME B16.5.

All gaskets, whatever the type, shall be asbestos free.

Each size of gaskets shall be supplied in bundles labelled with size, rating and material
specifications.

The minimum compressed thickness for gaskets shall be 3mm and minimum uncompressed
thickness shall be 4.5mm.

Unless otherwise specified, the types used shall be:

5.1 SPIRAL WOUND GASKETS

Spiral wound gaskets shall be used in conjunction with the Project Piping Material
Specification (3283-DGEN-5-14-0017) and shall conform to ASME B16.20.

Metal winding strip as well as outer ring (centering) and inner ring used in spiral would gaskets
shall be stainless steel 316L.

Spiral wound gaskets shall be suitable for use with flanges to ASME B16.5

Gaskets thickness shall be as per ASME B16.20.

5.2 NON-METALLIC GASKETS

Non-metallic gaskets when required shall be used in conjunction with the Project Piping
Material Specification (3283-DGEN-5-14-0017) and shall conform to ASME B16.21.

Ethylene Propylene Rubber (EPDM) gaskets shall be used for firefighting services.

Gasket thickness shall be as per ASME B16.21.

6. INSPECTION AND TESTS

Inspection and tests shall be carried out at the Manufacturer’s works prior to shipping,
in accordance with the requirements of referenced Codes and Standards.

Test Reports shall be supplied for all mandatory tests for the Gaskets as per the referenced
Codes and Standards. Material test certificates for all mandatory tests as per the
relevant material specifications and other inspection reports shall be furnished before
dispatch of material.

All test certificates shall be in accordance with BS EN 10204 3.1.

7. MARKING
Spiral wound gaskets shall be marked in accordance with ASME B16.20 and Non-Metallic
gaskets as per ASME B16.21.

8. QUALITY ASSURANCE
The Manufacturer shall operate a Quality System meeting the requirements of ISO 9001:2008.
Guidance for Purchaser conformance requirements to ISO 9001:2008 is given in QP Standard
Specification No. QP-STD-Q-004 Rev. 1.

The Manufacturer’s Quality system shall be subject to Purchaser approval prior to commitment
to the Purchase Order. The Purchaser reserves the right to conduct a Quality Audit at the
Manufacturer’s facilities at any stage during manufacture
