public: “Solving the Mystery of Genea-
logical Searches.” The workshop will
encompass tips and tricks to narrow
searches and show you how to find
everything you want to know. The work-

Sept. 18, at the Remus Area Museum,

Club will hold a Sporting Clays Tourna-
ment on Sept. 25. Rounds will start at
1 p.m. For the purposes of score, only
the first two rounds will be counted. A
plaque will be given for the top score

public. The Club is located four miles
West of Mecosta on M-20. For more

Club annual pig roast will be held on
Sept. 25 with serving from 5 to 7 p.m.
The menu includes “Buck’s” Pig, scal-

n Chapel of the Lakes Lutheran
Church, located at 9407 90th Ave., in
Mecosta, is hosting a spaghetti dinner
from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday,
Sept. 22. Proceeds from this dinner will
benefit God’s Helping Hands. The cost
is $8 for adults; $3 for children 6 to 12
years; and free for children under 6.
Take out dinners will also be available.
Bring a canned good donation to put in
the specially-marked box at the church
for God’s Helping Hands. The need is
very great at this time. Supplemental
funding will come from Thrivent Finan-
cial for Lutherans. For more information,

n Wake Up Barryton will be held
at 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 30 at Grandpa’s
Landscape, Nursery and Garden, located
on the southeast corner of M-66 and
Arthur Road. Wake Up Barryton is a
business group formed in February in
an effort to help improve the village by
bolstering its business.
n Dances are being held from 7
to 11 p.m. the third Saturday of each
month at the Mecosta VFW. The dances
are open to the public and cost $5 ad-
mission. The Lost Country Band plays
during the dances. The dances are be-
ing held to promote something fun for
young and old. Food also is available.
