Improving functionality, enhancing experiences and transforming lives is the core ethos of "Design
With Heart", selected as this year’s theme at the Nippon Paint Young Designer Award. "Design With
Heart" aims to be the catalyst that spurs young interior designers and architects to ideate concepts
that infuse convenience, practicality and purpose into our living, working and leisure spaces.
The challenge is to create environments that will benefit people from all walks of life, including the
elderly, the young, nursing mothers and the disabled, amongst others. Interior designers are
encouraged to share their vision of an ideal work space that promotes work-life balance, is engaging
and innovative, and is also eco-sustainable. Architects, tasked with creating an ideal Community
Interactive Space, should design a wholesome environment that nurtures family and community
relationships, advocates good values and inspires people to think creatively.
Ultimately, “Design With Heart” is a platform and an opportunity to think beyond the contemporary. It
is where young interior designers and architects alike can break through the limits and confines of
conservative thinking and deliver ideas and environments that everyone will enjoy, cherish and thrive
in.
