Criteria for Listening/Speaking Activity

Title of Activity: Listen and match (worksheet)


Look, Listen and repeat (speaking activity)

Purpose: - listening to consolidate new vocabulary


- listening to understanding of new letters sounds
- Speaking to introduce new vocabulary
- Speaking to focus on pronunciation
- Speaking to practice basic reading

Justification:
This listening activity is suitable for grade one, it develops their listening skill.
The children in this activity will listen to the teacher voice saying the words to
match the correct word and cross the picture according to the teacher says.
According to Brewster, "This activity is usually involves matching pictures to
spoken word" (2004, 103). This activity is also can improve student's skills in
writing, speaking and reading, we can use the same activity to make the
children say more different phonics sounds and words, read a story about the
alphabet. All the skills will get improved through one activity. At the end of this
activity, students will feel confident while they pronouns and say the sound ss,
write, and read the words with sound ss.

The speaking activity is suitable for grad 1 pupils, it develops their
communication skills. The learners in this activity will listen to the teacher
words and repeat after her. This activity also improves student's skill in
pronunciation.
