Criteria for speaking Activity

Title of Activity: Retelling a story

Purpose: - To check students understanding of the events


of the story
- To practice pronunciation, as well as some
storytelling techniques, like disguising the
voice, alternating pace and others.
- To memorize the new vocabulary
Grade \ level Grade 1

2. Order the foods according to the days
3. Look at the answer on board
4. Check their answer

Justification: This speaking activity is suitable for grade one, it develops their
speaking skill. They will memorize, revise and use the new words to
encourage the mind to remember the events and retell them. The
children in this activity will retell the main events of the story and in
a simple form. According to Brewster, "This activity involves pupils
in retelling a simplified version of a story" (2004) This activity is also
can improve student's skills in memorizing the new vocabulary's, we
can use the same activity to make the children to talk about
different events for instance daily routine or an educational film etc.
At the end of this activity, students will feel confident while they
speak about the events.
