February 26, 2018: Eureka 25 Lesson 8.4 Fraction and Whole Number Division
I began class with Karate Multiplication.
I then did Eureka’s Lesson 26 Concept Development. I did not finish,
so I will go back to this tomorrow.
Students worked on Lesson 8.4 in their Go Math Books
Carl very quickly completed multiple choice problems correctly.
Some students were struggling with how to model various types of
problem.
Some students were trying the “Keep Change Flip” trick incorrectly. I
reviewed this whole group.
Jamie answered her exit slip incorrectly (1/12 instead of 12)
I do not want to focus on Keep Change Flip, I want to focus on the
concept of fraction division. I want to continue modeling how to
visualize the problem and check to see if my answer makes sense.

February 27, 2018 Lesson 8.5 Interpret Division with Fractions

Eureka Lesson 26 Concept Development helped students with this

lesson. Students were asked to think about situations where division
equations with fractions would apply. Therefore, they were focusing
on concepts, rather than computation. The exit slip was a multiple
choice question:
Abby, Ann, Carl Dave worked at a table. They did not ask for help.
They had some errors.

Nancy and Jill worked together at another table. They did not
answer the exit slip correctly.
I gave them a similar problem:…
and they answered incorrectly at first. I coached them through
understanding the concept of ½ quart divided by 3.
