Equipment needed: Medium Size Ball, Music

Activity Description: The objective of this activity is to improve gross and fine motor ability,
and socialization
1.Participants will sit in a circle taking turns passing around a medium size ball.

2. The group leader will play music as the participants pass around the ball.

3. When the group leader stops playing the music which ever participant is holding the ball is
out.

4. The participants will continue passing the ball around the circle to the music until there is one
player left.

5. By the end of the game the last participant remaining is the winner.

Primary interaction pattern(s) (activity analysis): The primary interaction pattern for this
activity is Unilateral. I chose this pattern because the nature of this group is action of a
competitive nature among three or more persons, one of whom is an antagonist; interaction is in
simultaneous competitive relationship.

Adaptation: This activity can be adapted for people with a motor impairment. One motor
impairment in particular that could be adapted for this activity is Cerebral Palsy. Cerebral Palsy
is a disorder that affects muscle tone, movement, and motor skills. Cerebral Palsy also affects
muscle control and coordination, which makes simple movements like standing still difficult for
an individual. One way this activity could be adapted is by providing the participants with a
rubber ball to pass around or an object with handles. This could help the participants to grab the
object and successful pass it to another participant. During the activity the facilitator should
provide tactile cues or minimal to moderate assistance if necessary. The will help the participants
be able to participant in the activity despite their limitations.
