Who is this course for? Preliminary and HSC year students

What is this course about? What will students be doing?

The Metal & Engineering (240 Indicative Hours) course has one Generic and five specific streams - Production; Fabrication;
Mechanical; Electrical/Electronic; and Drawing, Drafting and Design. The Foundation component of this course is common to all Metal
and Engineering framework options.
Students must do all of the Foundation units of competency and choose 22 points from the elective metal bank for the particular stream
they have chosen, for this 240 hour course.

The course enables students to develop broad range of skills and knowledge appropriate for entry level workers in any of the sectors
within the Metal, Engineering and Related Service industries.

The appropriate TAFE module syllabus will provide more detailed information.

Work Placement

Students must undertake 76 hours of work placement for this course. Part-time paid work may fulfil part of the work placement
requirement. TAFE organisation and supervision of work placement is optional. Work placement module for enrolment is 4247V.
