Architecture

Mexico:
The Mesoamerican civilizations managed to have great stylistic and proportionate
development in the human and urban scale. Pyramids were built with earth and stones; they
were located and oriented according to the sun and the constellations, due to their religious
beliefs and worship of celestial bodies. Between the cities and prehispanic constructions
stand out Monte Albán, Tenochtitla, Chichen Itzá, Palenque and Tula.
England:
Many ancient standing stone monuments were built during the prehistoric period, among the
best known being Stonehenge, the arrows of the Devil, Monolith and Rudson Castlerigg.
The Romans founded the first cities and towns such as London, Bath, York and Chester.
The first civil buildings of medieval architecture were simple constructions mainly using wood
with a thatched roof.
Celebrations
England:
Saint Patrick's Day: Every 17th of March, the original festival of Ireland since Saint Patrick
is its patron saint, is celebrated throughout England with parades.
April Fool's Day: April Fool's Day, April 1. People make jokes and pranks to each other.
St. George's Day: Celebrated on April 23th, is the feast day of Saint George as celebrated
by various Christian Churches
Notting Hill Carnival: It is the most important street festival in Europe; it is celebrated at the
end of August. Celebrated with a parade over the main streets of Támesis
Mexico:
Posadas: Between the 16th and the 24th of December, many families, neighbors and friends
invite each other in a cordial way to celebrate in their homes the birth of Jesus.
Piñatas: They are parties for children, the charactericstic elements are candy bags and
piñatas.
Día de muertos: Houses, altars and markets are decorated with orange flowers; photos of
the deceased and even their favorite food dish are placed inside this altar.
Lucha Libre: Lucha Libre is the Mexican version of wrestling. The gladiators hide behind
colorful masks and bright designs.
